Disgraceful! The stands are, what? 30% filled?
I live in Bristol and didn't even know this is race weekend. Ten years ago you could barely get through the Food City stores because of all the beer displays, yesterday was like any other day. Did see a very nicely restored '57 Chevy Bel Air in the parking lot, though. |

Not to harp on staged racing (OK, a little), but it would have been fun if they didn't have two stages to bail them out of determining when they could pit for new tires, similar to the last 150 laps of the race where it was a game of chicken of when to pit or riding it out in case there was a real caution because someone else wrecked. This goes for a lot of tracks that have aggressive tire wear. It makes for a more interesting race with cars on different strategies and laying down vastly different lap times depending if they are on newer or older tires. It was a better race than just watching drivers run 500 qualifying time laps with no penalty for doing so, but hopefully Goodyear will figure out what happened and brings a tire that will lasts about the same number of laps as a fuel run the next time they come back. |
