Been there a few times myself.

Always a very sobering experience, especially when you consider literally all the political and economic mishaps we are experiencing can be directly traced to that conflict.

Thanks for the photos.

Has anyone ever figured out how they moved around so fast back then

The wife and I went when we were in KC a few years ago.  I thought it was very powerful.  Something unique for the Midwest.

Went there a few years ago and made a thread about it. One of the best museums I've been to.

Never been to any of the other National War Museums, are they just as good?

I was there dozens of times as a kid when it was just The Liberty Memorial.  My Grandfather, a WWI vet, was at both dedications.

I went to the national WWII museum in New Orleans a few months ago and I enjoyed it.  Although it was mostly me pointing at guns and telling my wife "I have one of those! And one of those!  I don't have one of those ".  I did the same at the WWI museum as well.

Personally I enjoy the WWI museum a bit more because I am less familiar with that era and learned more while at the museum.

And IIRC it was privately funded when it was first made because someone realized there was no Great War memorial - and there should be one, then it was privately/donation funded for the renovation.

Yes...it was a bunch of wealthy Kansas Citians who started the project, chiefly a lumber baron named Robert Long who was later bankrupted by the Great Depression.

One thing I noticed on my recent trip to France and visiting the various sites, is that despite our very small part in the overall war, we do love some huge ass monuments.

The Lafayette Escadrille Memorial in Paris is rather large, especially since it's for 68 pilots killed.

I would love to go to Europe and visit the war museums.

Even those in former Soviet Bloc countries and Russia.

One of our members here posted some pics from a war museum iirc from Ukraine. Very interesting.

Seems like Jacks Stack catered almost every event I attended. It was good.

The Majestic http://majestickc.com/ Is excellent. I've been there twice now.

Ah, yes. There are BBQ I like more than Jack Stack, but they're still damned good.

Never been to the Majestic. Been by there many times, should probably check it out sometime.

Next time you come to KC, post in the MOHTF and maybe we can organize an Arfcom meetup.
