Wow! Those dogs didn't look aggressive in the slightest to me. And I'm a pit-bull hater.
The one was wagging its tail coming up to get some pets and attention.
It is standard LEO SOP to shoot every dog they come into contact with |

What the fuck?
Homeboy doesn't need to be carrying a weapon if he's that fucking jumpy. Quoted:

Yeah, bad shoot. Those were friendly dogs. That's piss poor work on the officer's part.

I watched it twice. The first dog came up to him with a big smile on face, wagging his tail looking for some pets and bully rubs. Dude shoots it immediately. The other dog comes up slowly, cop backs up and shoots it.

If you jump into my gated back yard and start shooting my dogs....Expect return fire.

I'm not going to watch the video, nor do I have anything coc compliant to say.
I do think that in cases like these that cops should be held criminally liable for animal abuse and if they are sued it should come out of the police pension fund instead of the taxpayers footing the bill. Maybe then they will police themselves more. |

I second the notion that if an officer jumps my back fence and opens fire on my non aggressive pooch, I will return fire.

Saw it on Facebook a couple days ago. There is no way possible to consider that a good shoot. The dogs were friendly as can be and happy to have a visitor. And then the visitor shot them.
I've defended other dog shoots and cops in question but I cannot defend this at all. It makes me sad.
Zero reason to shoot that dog. Cop just wanted to shoot something, holding his gun sideways acting tough.
There's always been cops afraid of their own shadow but towards the end of my career (2009), the numbers of those jumpy cops had really increased. If you're that hincky of everything get another job. I dealt with dozens of dogs over the years and never felt I had to shoot one. It was close a couple of times. Especially when one bit me on the ass.

Inb4 my dog are children and worth more than your human life.
Bad shoot though. |
Standard answer. Officer must have feared for his safety. It's a tough job. Sheepdogs, heroes, and something about where'd we'd be with no police.
I showed the video to my buddy who is a LEO. He came unglued and thinks that officer should be fired.

Don't like pits. But that was a bullshit shoot. The first dog in particular was doing the tail wagging, head down thing all dogs do when they want to be pet. The second dog looked, to me, to be a little more aggressive.. but it's buddy had just got shot. It actually ran up, looked at the first one writhing around, then turned and started toward the cop before he shot it too.

I think its safe to say that cops in MN need to get a bit more fucking training.
good god. |
