The wife and I do meatless at least twice a week at dinner. Not trying to diet or anything just get tired of eating meat and it's so expensive. We are thinking of doing it 4 days a week.
Any ideas for meatless dinners? |

Meat is actually pretty cheap right now.
Pork chops regularly 1.79 on sale. Whole chickens for .99/lb sometimes less on sale Hell, even beef chuck roast you can get for 3 bucks. |

I go meatless alot. I cut meat all day and just get tired of it.
My wife makes this loaf of chickpeas, lentils and oats. Few eggs and flax seeds. Sometimes prunes. Freaking delicious. Also have been on a saetan kick. Boiled, then formed into a loaf, slice and pan fry. Reminds me of steak mushrooms. I eat alot of sardines and salmon in a can as well. |

Stir fry
Lentils with bread on the side pea pods, green beans, and a sweet potato, or skip the green beans and add cooked carrots Rice and beans in many different recipes |

"What the Health" is a good vegan cook book. Also a very well done documentary, it's available on Netflix.

Look at this way, cows eat grass and process it into meat. If you eat meat, its concentrated grass. You can't get any more vegan than concentrated grass.

I will respectfully suggest that if you're getting tired of meat you should try some new meat recipes.

I honestly can't remember the last time I had a meatless meal.

Chicken is cheaper than most vegetables. Stop being gay and eat dead animal protein like a man.

Deep fried tofu served with soy sauce, Chinese broccoli served with oyster sauce, and rice.
Stir fry. Mushroom Stroganoff. Pizza. Basil Pesto Pasta. Mac and Cheese. Peanut Butter and Jelly. |

View Quote We pretty much eat pork, chicken, shrimp and some fish but the wife isn't crazy about fish. Beef is crazy expensive here but we eat it a couple times a month. Sometimes we will have eggs and potatoes, waffles, fresh fruit and veggies instead if meat. Veggies and fruit are good but I find myself still hungry after an hour or so. |

I have super high blood pressure so I thought I might go vegetarian for a while to see if it helps. My girl made this and it was good: http://ericasrecipes.com/2014/10/mediterranean-crescent-ring/ http://ericasrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Mediterranean-Crescent-Ring-7aW-706x1024.jpg And sweet potato pizza was pretty good: http://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slideshows/371704/slide_371704_4306058_free.jpg Both look very good. Other stuff I like are avocado sandwiches, black bean casserole, eggplant parm, breakfast tacos, and stir fry. View Quote |

How do you get enough protein without eating meat?

I mean realistically you can make yourself omelettes or soups and such. But specifically targeting the elimination of meat makes it weird.

Can't go wrong with pasta dishes. Southwestern/Mexican has plenty of meat-free options.
Also, I like the Weight Watchers cookbooks. There are some good vegetarian recipes. Your library should have a pile of cookbooks. Browse through until a picture makes you hungry. |

Black beans, rice, with corn tortillas heated on a griddle.
Falafel with tahini sauce, maybe some hummus, make wraps with cherry tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers. My favorite salad sandwich is Greek salad with red onion and feta cheese in a Pita that doesn't suck--which is sometimes a difficult get. |

Tofu is 2.25 to 2.50 per pound. Twice the cost of the stuff in Ridgerunner's post. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

A non-issue. Most people don't exercise and lift enough for that to ever be a concern. And for the odd exception, it's easy enough to remedy. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Malai kofta and falaffel are two of the few vegetarian meals that I can actually look forward to having.
All kinds of meatless pizza, pasta dishes, Indian food, Chinese stir frys, and I'm loathe to mention it but veggie burgers are a thing. They mostly suck, but there's one out there that's not bad. |
