Camping with the family this weekend but rain had us watching movies in the camper.  Me and 9-year old son sat back to watch ET, good 80s movie for my son.

So after the Gov tags and bags ET and it seems he's dead, loOKs like they put ET on ice/cryogenic storage for preservation.  Eliot has a few moments with him alone than whammy, ETs all back to phoning home again!

So WTF?  Was this ever explained hoe ET was rebooted?  Did the cryogenic freeze heal him somehow?  Some Jeasus parallel I missed?  Or just poor writing?  What did I miss?

Who knows what those alien bastards can do.

It's a movie. Go with it. It is a "feel good" flicka show.

Because his message was received by his alien buddies and ET knew they were coming back for him.

Lets see, ET came from another freaking planet, he defied physics by making kids and bikes fly and your asking about a little thing like death.

"E.T." is a religious parable reflexive of Christianity. The resurrection of ET parallels the story of Christ.

Sorta! The entire movie demonstrates ET's ability to link himself to the life around him. The flower in the pot is the best example. Elliot and ET were also linked. As Elliot recovered, ET borrowed some of his life force to recover from his own seemingly mortal illness. There is also very strong evidence that ET was a force user. Telekenesis, multiple references to Star Wars throughout the film, and his calling out to Yoda for assistance when spotting him on Halloween night.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

I always thought it has something to do with the gas in the freeze pod being something akin to his native atmosphere. I figure Earth atmosphere was close enough to home for them, that they could take it for a while, but prolonged exposure from being left behind fucked him all up. Freeze pod gave him the boost he needed, and Spielberg can suck a dong.

OP,
It's a movie. I'm pretty sure that with "artistic license " they can do whatever. 'Cause it's entertainment, not real life.
