If that was true, the Ford F-Series wouldn't be the best selling vehicle on our roads. The free market is why crossovers are thriving and BOF SUVs are mostly gone. View Quote |

The xj wasn't the same platform as the GC. The current GC is a unibody, IFS/IRS, 4" of ground clearance, car. The base model doesn't even have low range, although some models do. It's a pathetic POS like every single jeep these days but the two door wrangler. View Quote |

I have a '14 Tacoma and an '07 TJ and a '78 CJ5. Probably going to trade the Tacoma on a 4Runner TRD Pro soon.
Is it just me getting older and more cynical or are we all fucked by the bliss ninny faggot marxists? I know this will sound defeatist but cars are being pussified by the day and at best we have 8 years and at worst we have 4 years before we have another socialist president who will attack the second amendment again. I know it's been coming for decades but it's getting me down now. What happened to men being men? I like guns and all of my vehicles have lots of trail pinstriping. My TJ hasn't worn a top or doors in years and smells like a swamp. I can afford a Beamer but I like vehicles with hair on their chests. |

IMO most of the SUVs have been ruined, the small one's have been turned into crossovers and the large one's have been turned into oversized minivans. I wish they would bring back the old fullsize Bronco & Blazer, the solid front axle Cherokee and the Excursion.

So it's kind of an SUV and kind of a car.
It's transgendered? |

I just bought this. It isn't a crossover, but it isn't a brodozer either. They tried to talk us into an Edge. http://build.ford.com/dig/Ford/Explorer/2017/HD-FULL/Image[|Ford|Explorer|2017|1|1.|202A.K8D..N1..88B.64C.LEA.99H.AWD.XLT.89W.]/EXT/1/vehicle.png View Quote |

The Ford Bronco will be body-on-frame with real offroad chops, supposedly.

Get a mid-size 4-door pickup with a bed topper and you've got right about the same thing, but with bedliner for tools, junk, and bulky shit. View Quote Now, If they would sell one with a Solid Front Axle instead of that IFS Crap there would once again be balance in the force! |

Fancy names for Station Wagons or nobody would buy 'em.
Some titles even say it as such as I recall. I like station wagons or whatever you may call them. |

I have a 2012 Pathfinder, the last year it was built on a truck frame. I'm scared to death someone will hit me and total the thing because the 4 Runner is the only comparable vehicle left, and they are no longer in my price range.

Buy a midsized crew cab truck. Get a bedrug and nice campershell painted to match.
You're welcome. |

This is your answer. The Xterra was also the only option in the segment where you could get the top off-road package brand new out the door for ~30k.

FUCK THE CROSSOVER! FUCK IT! FUCK IT TO HELL! They did it to my beloved Pathfinder. I have a 2006 and it's awesome. I love this truck. It's getting a bit old, though, so I was thinking maybe I should update. No major problems, still runs strong, enough room for everything I need. But the new Pathfinder is now a FUCKING CROSSOVER! Fuck you, Datsun. WHY DID YOU FUCK THIS UP? As my kids grew up and moved up, I abandoned the Suburban platform. Hell, they started putting plastic bumpers on them anyway. Might as well go with a plastic-clad mid-size. So I sold my wife's Caddy sedan and bought her an Xterra, and traded in the 'burb for a Pathfinder. And there were many happy years. Then the Xterra had that radiator problem that they're now known for, and we had to move her forward. Not many options now. She's in a RAV4. Well built, runs great but it's a ... a GOD DAMNED CROSSOVER! So I was thinking that I might get me a Toyota Highlander. I went to look at them today. They turned them into MOTHERFUCKING CROSSOVERS. PLEASE STOP THIS CROSSOVER SHIT! HOLY FUCKING SHIT! IT'S WORSE THAN THAT MINIVAN SHIT THEY STARTED! STOP FUCKING KILLING THE MID-SIZE SUV! Apparently, my Datsun will have to go much further. I hope it lasts long enough to outlive this FUCKING CROSSOVER phase or fad or whatever it is. The mid-size SUV will come back, right? RIGHT? View Quote I hate to make your unhappiness worse, but minivan/SUV/crossover = station wagon. It's just marketing ploys to sell more station wagons. |

Wrangler, 4Runner, final-year-new-old-stock Xterra are your only options. Of those, the 4Runner is the best of the bunch taking it as a package: size, driver comfort, reliability, capability. It's also smaller than your Pathfinder, so...not sure why it's too much for you even when looking to downsize.
To those who say they're too tall for a 4Runner: bullshit. I'm 6'5 with a long torso. I fit in my 4Runner with a very upright seat with ample headroom. I even fit in other 4Runners with sunroofs (mine doesn't have one; takes away a few inches of head clearance). You're either lying or doing it wrong. Lower your seat and trim your man buns, doofuses. |
