Just drove down Monument Ave. weekend before last. Wondered how long they would last.

DU, Reddit, and tumblr must be running a joint op on that poll.

Hit
Those monuments are too ingrained with Richmond. I doubt they will ever be removed. |

Hit it . It appears to allow multiple votes and yes is winning slightly.

Voted "No", because there wasn't a "No, fuck, no!" option.
I get it: the South lost the War, y'all made your point, now how about leaving us the hell alone. |

The comments on that poll are bad, was snooping some of the offenders Facebook's and almost died laughing at the stupidity

I can't wait until we send tanks from Fort Benning up to Stone Mountain, GA to blow up the Confederates carved into the rock. Then every one can run around shouting "New Speak" is great. Maybe even open a snackbar there. Then they can march around the mountain burning books that aren't approved.

I voted NO. It appears that multiple votes can be cast. Poll is therefore sure to be accurate.
The only time polls like these are used, is when the people running the poll have already made up their minds as to what the outcome will be. |

Jesus Christ these morons need to read a History book. Lee and Jackson were great American Generals who happened to fight for the Confederated States, which fought more for States rights and a decentralized Federal Government and that slavery was a secondary battle to those issues. American Soldiers, Veterans and war heroes, tearing down those monuments is a slap in the face to both sides, the divide, the fight and also to the healing that has happened because of the Civil War.
Pretty decent series on Netflix on the Civil War right now. They do push the slavery angle harder than all else as a reason for war. It's refreshing to see that at the beginning of the war how little Lincoln really cared about freeing slaves or even keeping them in the US after they escaped, I believe he's quoted to saying that they should grab a boat and head back to Africa or head to South America to escape slavery. He was not the abolishonist he's portrayed to be now. |

Vote # 40,426 says no.
Ridiculous what is going on with the removal of historic monuments of a free country, it's akin to the Taliban FFS. |

If you have not lived in the greater RIchmond area, I gotta tell you it is a politically fucked-up area.
"THERE IS RACISM, BECAUSE IT WAS THE CAPITOL OF THE CONFEDERACY!!!" was shouted from the pages of the Richmond Times-Dispatch daily. The blacks (and the Democratic Party) cannot get over the past there. They just can't let it go. If they tear down the monuments, what will they have to bitch about? Oh, and if they tear down the Civil War monuments, all they will have left is a statue of Arthur Ashe using a tennis racket to beat the shit out of little kids who just want to read to him . You Richmonders know what I'm talking about. |

Hit.
Alabama governor just signed a law prohibiting Confederate statues in place for more than 40 years from being removed by local governments. Bill also protects the names of buildings and schools. Alabama protects statues. |
