If he's a good employee try to find a mutually beneficial way to work around/accommodate his requests.
It's not hard |
|
I altered one guys shift to help him out. If he was a slacker I maynot have been so accomadating.

I'd tell him the same thing I'd tell Jews or Christians, "Shut up and do your job, you can talk about religion on your time, on my time you work".

I've known plenty of Muslims from many different countries. Had Muslim professors in college. Worked with plenty of Muslims.
Never had issues with any of them personally. Just treat him like anyone else. Why would you do anything else? The Catholics practice Lent for instance. Are they to be feared or treated differently? Keep in mind that Timmy McVeigh was a Christian and look at what he did. Being a terrorist asshole transcends religious boundaries. |

We can tell who the hillbillies and uninformed are.
The Middle East doesn't just shut down during Ramadan, they work and go on with life. Eid al-Fitr is a good eats if you get invited. Unless she is a snowflake and pushes it you shouldn't even notice. |

I have about a dozen Muslim employees back on my main office. None of them seem to do a worse job because of fasting and the feast when it's over is fantastic. View Quote |

Fire him due to his religion?
I was under the impression they don't take a month off but go to work. Is the employee asking for a month off? |

Treat him like a human being and not a terrorist?
I know that will be hard for a lot of you to accept. |
|
The ones i have worked with did not take time off for ramadan, they just didn't eat or drink all day.

Ramadan is not a nationally recognized holiday. As far as HR matters are concerned, if only one Muslim is in the company, then it is not a concern.
If there are several, then give them some consideration according to the number. But once started, it will have to continue in the future. Keep that in mind. |

Why not act the same way you do with anyone else you interact with on a daily basis. WTF does her religion have to do with anything?
WTF is wrong with you? |

I've only had one Muslim employee. I told him to let me know if he needed any time off. He did his normal job during Ramadan. Afterwards he gave me some fresh goat meat for the feast. I made some awesome Brunswick stew with it.
