Or maybe a 45acp?

Was thinking about it the other day. With a 20 inch barrel length you could get 18 rounds in the tube or so. Would be more fun than a lever action 22.

I think it would need to be a rimmed carttidge to work properly.

All lever actions I can think of use rimmed ammo.

44, 45lc, 357, 3030, 45-70, 22lr etc

10+1 or 9+1 on most of the carbines I've seen.

With 9mm you'd have a little more power than 38spl but you'd get nearly double the ammo.

I put a primed 30-30 case in a vice and used a hammer and a FMJ .30 Carbine bullet to try and detonate the primer. I wasnt able to.

I keep kicking around the idea of a suppressed 38 lever action.  they are made of course the threading and sight replacement would require some gunsmith work but i think it would be a fun little package and probably pretty quiet.

Why, yes. Yes there are such animals. And they make them in 9mm as well.

Yeah, that's why round nose FMJ .38 and .357 suck so bad in lever guns.  Why, there must be 0 deaths a year because of explosions.

maybe some kind of conversion on a Ruger 96 with the rotary mag-but not in a traditional style.

ETA-not questioning the possibility, just saying I wouldn't want one.

Guys like you are why I don't own NV or an MG.

You just HAVE to post awesome guns which are slightly expensive, but cool enough to drain my reserves.

So either I hate you, or thank you...I'm not sure which.

Pump action would be faster, and a little pistol cartridge would make for a super short and quick action.

That would be cool. I own a bunch of .22s, but I'm looking for my first pump .22 intermittently.

I'm getting around 1,000fps using a 158gr bullet in 38sp out of my 20" lever gun.

Reloading for 357 mag, I load 6gr CFE pistol which is on par with 9mm load (5.5gr in 9mm) Shoot a 158gr lead bullet and use the same small pistol Primer.

Getting 1,250fps.

Being lower pressure the 357 brass does not stretch too much.

I can load 18gr of lil gun with the same 158gr bullet and exceed 2,000fps.

Can't do that with a 9.

Now I just need to get a Model 62 to go with my 61 .....Pump .22s are addicting

If you can wait till this fall, Glock is coming out with a semi auto carbine in 9mm.

Get it in 357. You can shoot hot 38 spl and  weak 180gr 357 mag loads all subsonic.

I have always wondered if .45 auto rim would work in a long Colt lever gun?

I think the auto rim case head is thicker.

I said way back when the .327 mag debuted that it had a lot more appeal as a carbine cartridge than a revolver round.
