If they cut taxes for some but raise them for others, it will lead to the kinds of fights that have often killed tax changes in the past. “At some point, someone is going to look at tax reform and be a net loser in the transaction,” Kumar said. “And that person is going to complain loudly and bitterly, and depending who they are and how loudly and bitterly they complain, that will make tax reform more difficult.”

Brady, for example, has included something called a border adjustment tax in his plan, which raises $1 trillion over 10 years by effectively imposing new taxes on goods imported into the United States. It also incentivizes U.S. companies to export goods by ending taxation on exports. While House Republican leaders support this new tax, many Senate Republicans oppose the idea, saying it would drive up costs for retailers and hurt consumers.

Divisions threaten Trump’s hope of winning his next big legislative battle: Taxes

It's awesome having Republicans in control of there government. They can't repeal and replace Obamacare, they're already working towards killing their own tax cuts. At this rate I'll be surprised if they get Gorsuch approved.

I am becoming more and more convinced every day that representative government is a failure.

I hope I am wrong, but I don't think the senate has the mettle to get a conservative SC pick through.
If the situation was reversed the dems would have rammed their guy through already.

I'd like to know when this idea that government is interested in what's good for America and Americans took hold.

Gov spent 3plus TRILLION dollars last year . Do people think they give a shit about you or your 10-20 k in taxes?

Lol

americans should have a nationwide vote thru their cell phones each year, ala dancing with the stars,  where they can all vote on one congressman, ( highest vote is the winner ) who will be instantly booted, and stripped of everything they own, and forced to work at the dmv for life...

that would encourage them to not be fuck ups, and to get shit done.

You thought this was going to be easy?

Trying to make inroads against decades of entrenched socialism and an out of control federal bureaucracy put in place by the free shit army?

I don't think we're going to see any significant legislation this year so President Trump will concentrate on doing everything he legally can through Executive Orders.

The GOPe and RINOs are probably going to cost us the House and Senate in 2018 and the White House in 2020, then it's bye-bye Constitution and Bill of Rights.

You guys fail to realize the Republican Party ALWAYS caves to media pressure.  If the media would say "this is a good tax plan" then Republicans would pass it in 2 days.  Same goes for Obamacare.

Pussies (Republicans in Congress) have officially jumped off the Trump Train, and now they are getting run over.  They should of stayed on the train plowing ahead.

I will never forget watching a interview with a US politician who kept referring to "The average tax paying unit"..
blah blah blah and then he would reference something about the "average tax paying unit" again?

Finally the reporter asked?..What do you mean by unit?......taxpayers?..citizens?..voters?

That's when he mumbled..umm,yes.

These arrogant fucks see the average hard working American as nothing more than..."tax paying "units"

Here's my suggestion. Every legislator should be required to wear a uniform jacket with the logos of their campaign contributors on it. Sort of like NASCAR does it..............

Then we'd better go through the GOP with a flamethrower first, as a matter of survival.

OP: If representative government was meant to be easy we would have no congress at all. All we would need is for a champion from each party enter a dark room, each armed with a knife. Whichever one survives gets their bill passed. However, we are civilized and instead have 535 ego driven idiots throwing five year old tempertantrums and talk each other to death.

Yep. Obama and the Dems got the Affordable Care Act passed on March 23 of the second year of Obama's first term.

The last time the Republicans had the POTUS, the House, and the Senate, they did exactly jack squat.

One thing is already guaranteed and if the right pushes for tax cuts for Corps and the upper end the left will demand more tax credits for the poor.
If our goods are being taxed when entering others nations then their goods need to be tax when coming here.

The Republicans aren't any better at writing tax policy than Dems are.

What we need is revenue neutral tax reform. Treat earned and unearned income the same. Eliminate virtually all deductions, even mortgage interest and child deductions. Lower rates to match current revenue. Then replace payroll taxes with a carbon tax to force up the cost of imported goods from the third world and reduce a major single driver of our trade imbalance, which is foreign oil. Let the Arabs go back to living in tents and the Russians to farming potatoes. We will build things again.

Why, so legislators with the relationships to get things done are replaced with staffers and lobbyists with the relationships to get things done?

He was elected in 2008, inaugurated Jan 2009, and Obamacare passed the House in Nov 2009. Senate sometime in 2010.

Fear?Hell,"we" don't even vote the majority of them out of office.

Our form of government is damn good-where it went wrong is with the people. The people should have held reps feet to the fire if they even thought about doing something not Constitutional.

Instead, the people just sat by and let things go.Every year made things worse.............and here we are.

Hint-it doesn't end well for anyone that wants limited government, less spending, and Freedom.

I'm hoping for some aliens to show up, pull the take me to your leader schitck, and watch them vaporize Washington DC.
I'd rather live under alien overlords than the fucking retards we have now.

There seems to only be a small hand full of true small gov, liberty promoting conservatives left, and they
all seem to be in the Freedom Caucus, which, unfortunately, Trump is choosing NOT to align himself with.

I had much higher hopes that the R's would have learned something by now and start acting like R's. Very frustrating start, I hope they turn it around
before the mid-terms.

You have to blame the education system.  In early school we're taught the principles that the .gov is supposed to work by, not the reality.  Government is run by the people who pay for it.  The average citizen in this country pays next to nothing, so the average citizen gets next to nothing in terms of say on how things are supposed to work.

While it wouldn't break my heart to see that happen, even if DC got vaporized, the people would vote in the same type of shit in the next election.Hell, some of the names would probably be the same (like cuomo in NY ).

That's because Trump is not a true small gov, liberty promoting conservative. Even worse, very few Republican voters want a truly limited federal government and actual liberty. Most people really want a king who will force policies on other people that reflect their own world view. It's exactly what the founding fathers feared.

The Republican party spends so much time trying to define who they are and who they are not that they can't come to consensus on anything, much less get anything done.
