3rd DUI accident causes fatality.
An arrest report shows the driver involved in Thursday's fatal Causeway crash had a Blood Alcohol Level almost three times the legal limit. It also appears it's not the first time 26-year-old, Olivia Matte, has been found intoxicated while driving.
The scene from Thursday morning's fatal crash was horrific. However, what some say is just as disturbing, is the fact that Matte had been arrested not once but twice before for driving while intoxicated. View Quote |

Honestly if someone killed one of my family members I would prefer the state let them out.

Huh, that's pretty strange.
3 duis in such a short period of time(including her first) and later in life is really odd. Not trying to excuse her actions or anything, but something real fucked up probably kicked that off. |

That's exactly what tends to happen. I've long had a theory that's because so many lawmakers are drunks, and they don't want to make the penalties severe. Or even significant. Only public pressure in recent decades has forced some progress, but not nearly enough. There is NO excuse to driving while under the influence. Do so at your peril--in a perfect world. View Quote |

Her behavior is inexcusable, and apparently not correctable so far with the measures already applied.
If the criminal justice system cannot keep her away from others, the civil courts should strip her of all assets, and anyone who knowingly enabled her drunken driving. THEN, she should be put to death, because if this is not pre-meditated homicide, I don't know what is. Also, I expect there will be a special session in that state's senate because passing more laws will save even just one life. (Note dripping sarcasm). |

Only 3?
That's low compared to some of the ones that make the news up here. |

she technically could get 5 years with hard labor. More than likely she'll get 6 months house arrest then a vehicle interlock for a year. Then she'll get drunk and drive again. View Quote |

Anyone who says anything other than death penalty has no fucking clue what constitutes justice and what doesn't. Am I in before Arfcom's band of scummy drunk drivers?

She's a drunk.
I'm always amazed at what it takes to keep these recidivistic DUI assholes behind bars. We have one local that killed a man already and has had countless subsequent DUIs and driving on suspended license. She's still roaming free. |

I knew a guy that caused a DUI fatality. He spent 5 years in prison. Within 6 months of getting out he died of an aneurysm.
I always thought it was a sort of poetic justice. |

It would be interesting to get an fMRI of her brain while showing her images from the carnage she caused, pictures from her social media of her drinking, etc.
Then compare the fMRI results to physical abnormalities in the brain upon autopsy. I wonder if she is a sociopath? Been diagnosed as having a "borderline personality disorder" or something else? |

I despise drunk drivers with a passion. Had a cousin killed while riding his bike by a drunk driver. The cousin was as close as a twin to me. We were born within a week of each other.
Pieces of his bike were found 120-130ft from the impact as the driver was going so fast. Lock the bitch up. |

She should have some serious jail time to reflect on her behavior. Mandated testing for 5 years after release with drug and alcohol testing to stay out of jail.
