I run a Nightforce with Near rings on my .338 LM. Someone else said Schmidt & Bender another great choice. Even US optics. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/azroadrunner2007/SakoTRG338_zpsb83b31b1.jpg View Quote |

Newest offering from AI. Has interchangeable barrels like the AXMC but a traditional AI butt stock. Only available in short action. Folder or fixed. Uses double stack AW mags. Fluted bolt for cold weather.

I work in the industry and the last rifle/optic package I sold was $8,900. That was just a nice lightweight 1,000yd-capable hunting rifle. There's a .408 CheyTac waiting to be finished and the bill on that one is around $14,000 (but it has a suppressor, ammo, etc. that add quite a bit to the cost). There are a lot of serious long range shooters in this part of the country. View Quote |

I believe I read a great article on the rifle in Small Arms Review where they tested the rifle in artic type conditions.

Is this pre-or-post movement nerf? AWP really lost a lot of potency when they halved the zoomed movement speed.

What makes it particularly appropriate for arctic warfare, minimal Pic rail so it doesn't snag on the snow? A hand warmer pocket in the cheekpiece? Green? The flutes on the AI bolts started with the AW back in 1991. There was a requirement from the Swedish Army to hose the rifle in water and place in an industrial fridge for the weekend, after which the bolt had to open. Without the flutes it was frozen solid, with the flutes it was fine. An added feature is that it assists with clearing sand and dirt.

I got to finger an AW in 338 and it was everything I hoped it would be. One day

What do you do with a super accurate 14 pound rifle? Maybe if there were more decent 600 yard plus ranges around here or I lived out west View Quote |

It take someone of this level to not only buy something like this, but know enough not to place a quility rifle upside down in the case.

If you zoomed in and put a dot on your screen with a dry erase marker the AWP was a beast with one shot kills without zooming in. |

I want one. Would like it in a magnum chambering, probably .300WM. I'm drawn to iconic and classic firearms even if they have been 'replaced' by something generally considered better. I just don't have the willingness to spend that much or the real estate to host a "for shits and giggles" collection. But one day....

Why not the 3-20 with MSR? That said I will probably sell my 4-16 PMII and get a 5-20 Schmidt. |

One day, I'll be on this level. Until them, I'll enjoy the pictures!
