"It was just laying there, so he grabbed it"

Oh cool.  An $85,000 pistol.  Made from stolen materials.  By JJFU no less.  Sign me right the hell up.

http://taskandpurpose.com/freedom-loving-firearm-forged-pieces-statue-liberty/
Called the “Lady Liberty” Full Damascus Cisco, this 1911 is forged by Jesse James ofWest Coast Choppers and “The Celebrity Apprentice 2” fame. The handgun is valued at $85,000, and for good reason: Crafting the “Lady Liberty” took a full year and nearly 500 hours of labor, according to Forbes, which spoke with James about this star-spangled handgun.

The material is from a piece of the handrail around the Statue of Liberty’s torch, and it came to James through a source involved in the restoration.

“It was just laying there, so he grabbed it, and it ended up in my hands.” James told Forbes.

Only three firearms were made with the statue material, and as of James’ interview with Forbes in February, two have already been sold. The pistol is just one of many recent creations to come out of James’ Texas-based company Jesse James Firearms Unlimited, which he launched in 2013.

The pistol is forged with “the DNA of America’s biggest symbol of freedom,” James told Forbes. Freedom isn’t free — and it sure isn’t cheap, either.

UPDATE: as other members have pointed out, it appears that the original handrail around the torch (which this pistol is supposedly made out of) was NOT removed during restoration and is still completely intact and on display

Pretty cool.

And if you actually read, picked up from dude working on the restoration project.  Hard to find a better use for the material.

Dude, you've never stopped to ask yourself why Sandra Bullock can't keep a man?

She is hot and she has money but nobody will stay with her.

She's either crazy, an insufferable cunt, or she never puts out.  Likely a combination of all 3.

I suspect Jennifer Aniston suffers from the same affliction.

So what you're saying is that all bikers are pieces of human shit. Or, that marriage vows don't mean shit. Or, someone is stupid because they trust another person to be ethical.

ETA: BTW Jesse James is the epitome of a sub-human, opportunistic, piece of shit. His latest marriage is to the Billionaire creator of "Patron Tequila", daughter. She's worth an est 100 million. James doesn't marry, or love for sake of love, he marries for the sake of financial security. That's a flawed person IMHO.

I am not going to be jealous of someone with $85,000 to spend.

Pretty cool conversation piece for someone wealthy.

Reminds me of a guy I helped a buddy pick up a pool table from. Sussed us out, then showed us around his house.

Ferrari in the garage, cool everything. Celebrity autographed pictures from charity golf events where he had to pay some pretty high coin to go there.

MP5 with a full-auto group. He had spent ~$50,000 on the thing, and didn't shoot it. I had just met the guy.

I left there thinking, "lucky guy." Not, "man I hate that guy..."

The free market worked out for him. Good for him.

The guy obviously had a significant amount of disposable income.

The gun is a cool piece of history, and has a cool story.

Liberals can worry about class warfare, and wealth jealousy. Good on whoever has the money to afford that gun. It is a work of art.

I know you guys are making a statement... but it is worth something. Even if we added the railing, it has still been part of American History for awhile.

Yeah, I know Jesse is s douche. But, it is still an intriguing piece. Plus, it's a one of a kind.

Someone will pay.

Seems like a whole lot of yall hate capitalism, hate guys who dress and act how they want and get millions of dollars to do so, and hate guys who can bang hot Hollywood 'A' list actresses and then throw them away.

I think its a cool pistol and while I would never pay the asking price, I'd be a buyer at $1000...not sure what is so terrible about it, other than the apparent dislike for the guy who made it.

Yeah...he charges a lot of money for his work....apparently some people pay it too.
Good for him...wish someone would make me a millionaire for doing shit I enjoy.

The way I see it if it took him 500 hours to make it then he didn't know what the fuck he was doing and was learning as he went. JJ is the biggest tool in the firearms industry, because he just jumps from one thing to another, and charges everyone for the right to own his artwork. Yes, artwork, not really a gun. And I don't care if the metal came from the SoL or the 9-11 cross, it's bullshit and the fact that people pay for his garbage is proof that a fool is born every minute.
