Well what do you prefer?
SAO gives you the finest/lightest/shortest trigger pull. DA/SA gives you the most reliable firearm by offering double strike capability (sure, its of dubious use in real life but Officer Wilson may disagree) and striker fire gives you a crunchy, shitty, long trigger pull with no redeeming qualities. You can probably tell which one I didn't choose.
SAO is the way to go. Same sweet, sweet trigger every time.
Next up is striker, same shitty to semi shitty trigger every time. DA/SA Bipolar trigger. No thanks. |
SAO
DA/SA, especially the kind that also allow cocked and locked carry there is no #3 for me |
SA/DA, though it just occurred to me I don't currently own one for some reason
Looks like a Sig is in my future. |

It's a nostalgia revolver. I carry a semi auto. I'm guessing he's talking about a semi auto single action. I've had a few beers and I'm thinking about my single action revolver. View Quote The way I read it is: 1911 v Beretta 92 v Glock I like the 1911 trigger most, but I feel the need to have a bear gun. I figured I might as well have an auto pistol with a similar trigger. My big bore revolver will fire when you pull the trigger, even if you don't cock the hammer first. I'd be happy to own and shoot a SAA, but priorities take precedence. Cheers |

Striker = single strike DA. Not a fan. Many are. Each to their own.
1. SAO
2. DA/SA 3. Striker I prefer an exposed hammer, mostly due to the safety that it affords on reholstering. I have no issue with a (good) double-action trigger, either. |
For what purpose?
Hunting hand gun - single action, Ruger Super Blackhawk Self Defense - striker fired, Glock For fun shooting - SA/DA, S&W |
The exact opposite of your poll as listed
1. Striker 2. Da/ sa Etc |
I like them all...but if i had to put them in order:
SAO-as in 1911. Striker DA/SA Only real problem with DA/SA I have is that my first shot in DA generally goes into the twilight zone. |
Doesn't matter to me if it's SAO or DA/SA. They all get carried/used cocked and locked.
All the failure to fire issues I had with my M&Ps and the poor triggers in the Glock and XDM guns turned me against striker fired guns. |
Striker is pretty much SAO in that there is no second strike capability. Depending on the parts available you can achieve a excellent trigger, though I much prefer my CGW tuned CZ-75.to Apex tuned M&P.
DA/SA, SA, and Striker. In that order.
Edit: DA/SA is even better when it's able to be carried condition 1. |
I prefer carrying strikers, but my CZ75 SP01 is my favorite handgun by miles.
Choose striker because thats what I carry. |
Any are fine in a semi auto. I shoot revolvers better than any of them. Even double action usually.
Edit: slow firing. Shooting fast, I shoot the striker guns better. Glock etc. |
Prefer SA.
Will shoot/carry any of the others without hesitation. DA revolver included. Only triggers I really don't like are Kel-Tec and Kahr. Kel Tec because it's generally terrible, Kahr because it's far heavier than it needs to be. |

I have a single action army colt revolver. No way in hell I would trust that when push comes to shove. How in the hell is it winning in the polls? I'm guessing enough people are Bob Munden up in this house. View Quote Most people who are picking single action are probably thinking along the lines of a 1911 or some other pistol, not a single action revolver you have to cock for each shot.. |
When I first started carrying it was DA/SA. I eventually bought an M&P, and loved striker fired guns, and that is what I still carry. Although, after being issued a DAK Sig I have become fond of that system.
Striker (3.5-5lb) is my favorite now. Take up slack and clean snap. Once you learn the take up zone it is east to keep on target for a full mag.
DA/SA, striker, single action. Daily driver is a Sig 229. If I couldn't have that, Block. Last would be 1911; just not comfortable with cocked-and-locked. I own a 1911, but it's mostly just a range toy. I'd only carry it if I had NO other choice.
I prefer striker fired revolvers.
Nah j/k. I like A lot of guns. Revolver I want a DA with swingout cylinder. I couldn't enjoy any revolver with a loading gate. Especially rimfires. Work pistols. Don't matter I will adapt. Currently in Glock mode but I go out o my way to use other types for familiarity. |
Used a Sig for USPSA and carry for years.
After a few year in USPSA I upgraded to a double stack single action. I will say it helped my scores but 20 years I still EDC the sig and never felt the trigger was an issue. |
