It needs to be upgraded to 24V maybe 36V even, and you need to buy some cheap mountain bike tires, cut them open, and screw their tread onto the slippery plastic wheels.

Yup, start trash pick in pop.

If it doesn't have the dual trans/motors get them. Then heavier wiring, 36v, cooling fins for the motors. Wire two batteries to the pedal and put the third on a turbo button for an extra burst of speed for climbing hills, pulling a wagon or in case his sister or the day gets in the way.

Treads are cool, but it limits drifting around corners.

My daughter has on of the gator ones. I wrapped the drive wheels with a section of mountain bike tire so now she can actually get traction to drive in the grass.

YOU, sir, are an awesome Dad!
A few years back we bought our little one the exact same jeep. Bought an extra battery and the whole nine yards. We paid like $300 for all of it. She rode it a handful of times and it sat in the garage collecting dust.
Never again!

Horrible advice, that will guarantee that you will smoke the plastic gearbox.

So long as there's a little slip of the tires such as on grass 6v-12v and 12v-18v seem to be ok. We have a 6-12 and two 12-18 conversions that are 3+years going without issue. I think if you add rubber tire wraps and run on concrete you're asking for it. I just ran screws in ours that work like studs.

Thanks for all of the compliments.  Some of the Jeep conversions others have posted are insane.  I had no idea.

I did consider mounting a gun of some type to the Jeep.  I'll update if that happens.  As far as an LS swap or other crazy ideas, the little dude isn't even potty trained yet (18 months old).  I don't think he is ready.    Seriously I have to walk behind the Jeep with a long stick holding the accelerator down!

This Jeep has cost me no money up to this point. A cousin gave it to us after his daughter was done with it.  It has to be getting close to 10 years old now.  Still runs great.

One more pic.

Someone else mentioned it first.  Star on hood.  Subdued if modern, white if WW II. Awesome paint job.

Great job dad.

we have a jeep that is blue for our grandkids, but wish we had ours painted like that.

The idea of the tape around the wheels is a good one. Except my 2 year old grandson likes to slide it around corners on his side walk around his house. He comes smoking  out of the garage

and down the drive and slides it around the corner. He drives like he stole our jeep. But he calls it his..
