Yes and if I get the option to upgrade to first I can charge that in as well. I'm looking at ORD to LHR, LHR to JNB. I've been screwing around with flights for the last hour. Our travel portal is fucked up and I really don't want to fly African Air. View Quote Best European Business class is Air France or Lufthansa... Keep your head on a swivel when stopped at stop lights or "robots" as they call them. Your car doors need to stay locked at all times, other than that, get yourself a blue work / painters suit and a five gallon bucket and you'll fit right in.

Joburg is a true 2nd world city with many areas that are 3rd world. Try not to get killed, robbed or car jacked. Where exactly are you staying..Sandton, Gauteng? Do you have a rental car? If so I you could drive to a safari camp or Kruger Park. There are plenty of day safari opportunities as well. If you are a big fan of Nelson Mandela you could visit all his monuments and his house, jail cell etc Cradel of Humankind...Lion Park is close by Constitution Hill View Quote 2nd world? LMFAO. |

Best Air Plane is A380....very quiet and a lot of room I just missed Diamond on Delta last year. I am Exec Plat on American so I've been trying to find flights with them or codeshare partners. That likely means flying BA out of LHR but I'll be asleep for the whole flight anyway. BA sucks and the food sucks. They at least have pods in business class...atleast they do to Bangalore. I'm sitting on the Tarmac in DFW right now but if I'd recall there was an A380 from CLT to LHR. I originate in TUL so I have to trick our travel portal to give me the flights I want. Once I figure out where I'm actually staying I'll definitely let you know. Appreciate the help. |

Get a rental at Joburg and drive(only slowing for red lights in Joburg mind you) to Koomatiport then go to Kruger Park to see amazing wildlife. (long drive, think it was like 450mi.) |

Pilanesburg, Cheetah center, Victoria Falls, Kruger. Plenty of Western Bush pilots there if you look around as well if you want to see some really unique shit. |

I get the pleasure of staying in Johannesburg the next two weeks. I've never been to the Dark Continent. I wanna to take the time to do the things we never had. It has to be something that a hundred men or more could do...really 2 people. Also, something that I could realistically leave work at 4:00 PM and be back for sleep on Sunday night. Any recommendations? View Quote Go to Zangaro! |

Whatever you do, don't take Ethiopian Airlines. Half the plane won't work, they have no sense of time and he stews look like extras from Blackhawk Down...

Don't let baboons near enough to kill you. |

There is a zoo outside of town. Go see the white lions. They had an enclosure with 3 month old cubs in it that you could be escorted into and pet the cubs. I did this 12yrs ago, so things might have changed. I'm not much of zoos, but it was a high light of our trip. There are some great restaurants in the Mandela square area. Trying to remember the name of one that I go to that has all sorts of meats from different animals, and some great steaks if you aren't into wild game.

Why? The two best flights I've ever had were South African Airways. Beat the ever loving shit out of American between JFK & Narita. Mostly because I'm a status/mileage whore and South African Airways is not a codeshare partner with AA. I'll be in Sandton for work and likely very close for lodging. |

Stay in your hotel during the week. There is really nothing to see in Jo'burg.
Go to Kruger National Park or Cape Town for a long weekend. Accountant |

I just returned from South Africa this morning after being there for three weeks. I spent little time in Johannesburg, mostly for transit purposes but the limited time I was there I used Uber for transportation, clean, safe - easy to get around.
Four days in Sabi Sands (adjacent to Kruger - up close to lions, elephants, Cape Buffalo, rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, cheetah - and many more - I think we counted over 25 mammals. We did two days in Durban which we probably would not have gone to but we had friends there. Ten days in the Winelands/Cape Town - fantastic wine and food - also was able to go to Robben Island and see Mandela's cell - our tour guide was a former political prisoner. Very sobering. South Africa does have a crime problem - but if you take precautions it's no problem. We rented a Toyota Fortuner (basically a 4Runner) but it had the HiLux Diesel. too bad we can't get those in the US. Honestly I can't say enough good about South Africa - fantastic place - I hope we can go back. |
