I need a new outside the waist holster for my G19. Not terribly impressed with what is available at my LGS. Any recommendations?

Kydex or leather?

I have the Safarilamd 7TS ALS.   Really like the holsters.  I have one for my duty weapon and one for my Shield.   Very fast to draw and has the auto retention that is deactivated with the thin when using a proper grip.

What's the intended use?  Are you going to need to take it of and on several times a day?  Where do you want to carry (ETA: on your person)?  Do you want a canted carry?  What are you going to wear with it?  Do you own a gun belt?

Yes, I use proper gunbelts. I carry every day, I have for quite awhile. Not new to concealed carry, but the Glock is new to me, switching over from a 1911 as every day carry. I carried my Glock in a holster built by a local guy here.....not happy with it's quality.  I typically like a straight up/down, but a few of my leather holsters do have a slight forward cant. Not a fan of paddle type holsters, and no I don't take it on/off throughout the day.

For outside the waist band under an untucked shirt I like the Galco Quick Slide. It rests close to the body and i have no printing issues. It is fast on the draw and is extremely comfortable.

Based on your intended use, I'd recommend the Raven Concealment Phantom which is what use to conceal carry my G19 also.

I could've gave you a recommendation for iwb but I don't carry owb unless I'm on duty. Definitely go kydex.

I have a few of these and like them a lot.  Have my 19 in mine right now.

Although I have broken a clip before putting the holster on after it had been sitting in the cold.  I guess it made the kydex stiff and I kind of flexed it out a bit far that time on top of that.  I opt for the heavy duty clip now.

I have a bunch but for Outside carry but I really like the DeSantis Speed Scabbard.  I've attended 4 of Mas Ayoobs advanced courses using it. It is fast and the fit is so good it stays in the holster during drills.

Get both!

I got a Blackpoint Tactical recently and really like it.

KYDEX® where you need it, leather where you want it.

Find a local kydex guy to make you one. Be sure it has adjustable retention.

I just received a Garret Wilson Silent Thunder OWB for a 1911.  Well made, great attention to detail, and am will probably order an IWB silent thunder for my G19.

What I like about it is that it's leather lined Kydex, which help keep finish wear to a minimum.

For OWB, kydex
For IWB, leather

I've had good experiences with Blade-Tech. Their Tek-Lock attachment is great.

Yeah, real hard to beat.  Particularly if you don't care about your holster and just need a piece of plastic to hold your gun to your belt.  Might as well get a serpa.

Yeah, I'll jump on this train.  I have several now after starting with a Morrigan which turned out to be the most comfortable and flexible IWB I've ever owned.  It is as close to "you can't tell it's there" as it's possible to get.

Closer to what the OP is after, I have a Phantom and couldn't be happier with it.

We don’t have to discuss your situation here, unless you wish to.  They are the designers/manufactures of those holsters.  I have no financial interests in that business.
