FBI sub-machine gun stolen from California agent's car
The FBI announced Friday that a sub-machine gun was stolen out of an agent’s car.... The San Francisco Chronicle described the gun as a Heckler & Koch MP5 10 mm. The report said an ammunition magazine and bulletproof vest were also taken.... ... It was unclear how the weapon was stored in the car.... The Mercury News reported that California Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed legislation requiring law enforcement agents to lock weapons in secure compartments when left in cars. .... View Quote Opps. |

I'm glad it happened in California it proves gun laws will not stop criminals from getting guns.

Years ago, I fired 5 rounds through a MP5-10, recoil was pretty stout.
I hope this is not a career ender for the poor agent, but how did the thief know that was a gun in the car? |

How's that law working for you Govener?
I'm sure passing another law could have prevented this. |
|
Democrats of a low mentally functioning capacity are now scrambling to pass more laws!
|
|
It happens.
When I worked in Atlantic City we had an FBI agent check out of the hotel and leave his gun in the room. The housekeeper found it. |

Almost as if criminals don't obey laws, and will still get guns even if prohibited.
|
|
Brown is gonna be pewing a new gun law about unsecured pew-pew-pew weapons.

Whatever would happen to a regular guy should happen to the agent. Nothing more/less

Apply the law equally to those who choose to enforce it.
Also, MP5/10s are still being used? |
|
Let them be bound by the same gun laws as everyone else in the state.

Damn I bet that poor Agent shit his pants when he saw it was missing.

love the nanny state supporters!!! View Quote +1 I absolutely do not support any kind of punishment beyond whatever he gets internally. He was the victim of a crime. This should be no different than someone getting a chainsaw stolen from their vehicle. You're either pro-gun or you aren't. |

So he allowed a felon to be in sole possession of an NFA firearm. Sounds like a felony to me. Leaving a firearm locked inside of a vehicle =/= handing a known convicted felon a firearm. It's not prudent or wise and it might be considered negligent under some circumstances. But it's not Heck, I'd consider firing the agent for leaving it in the vehicle. But terms like criminal and felony actually have meaning and elements. They are not synonymous with something bad happened because someone was careless. If someone put drugs in your checked luggage, without you knowing, and you took it home should you be a felon? No, why? Because you lacked knowledge of or intent to control said contraband. |

Agencies tend to have their own policies regarding weapons and equipment in vehicles. I doubt he violated policy by having the gear in the car; you hear countless stories of thefts of weapons and equipment from goverment agencies all the time.

If it was a tax paying citizen that stole it, would it be called reclaiming property?
