So I feel the need to buy a celebratory gun for the Trump inauguration but not sure what.
My local shop has a Desert Eagle in 44 Mag that looks new with box and papers I could get for $850 out the door. I have 44 Mag ammo I stock anyway and the price is good from what I see. It seems like the perfect Trump celebration gun in that it's silly and over the top so talk me out of it. Only thing that would make it better would be a 50 in gold zebra stripe. |

Sounds like a decent price especially like new with box and papers. They don't sit for long here when they pop up for sale.

They are fun and actually pretty easy to shoot despite the size. Recoil is extremely low, my loads over book max in 44 feel like 45s from a more sensible pistol.
They can be ammo or mag sensitive and every few thousand rounds you might need a new spring kit. They do seem to beat themselves up pretty hard, one of mine has a small crack at the front of the slide that I can't figure out, but which hasn't spread in over 800 rounds so I am hoping isn't an issue. Not sure when it developed or if it was there when I bought it. They also shoot a little high. Triggers are great though. Really fun though. I have been shooting titegroup loads through mine and it is hilariously fast to shoot with negligible recoil. In terms of stupid gimmicky guns my desert eagle goes out shooting more often than any other. |

You can get the combo.

Shot one back in the late eighties or early nineties. Jamomatic. If you got three rounds through it without jamming you were doing something. Since that was quite awhile back, they may be better now.

That's really the point of this thread, I don't really want it but am considering it and want somebody to talk me off that ledge. View Quote For its pluses: Had my 10 year old sis and 8 year old brother shoot it. Recoil was light but that bitch is heavy! |

Deagle in 44 is for pussies.
Buy a S&W 500. That's a man's gun. |
|
I had the .357 DE. Was cool. Sold it a few years ago. Cool conversation pieces.
|
|
Do it! It's fun to shoot a handgun that sounds like a 30.06!
It likely won't fully cycle with standard loads and relaxed shooting. You have to hold it very firm or shoot hotter loads. Mine liked 325 grain bullets with cases crammed so full of whatever powder there was no room to spare. Sorry, no load info to share. Got the ammo at a gunshow from T's ammo somewhere here in TX. Haven't seen them in over ten years. |

Such a fun but totally impractical gun. I'd go nickle or gold plated just because. I mean if you're going to be impractical I say go all the way with it. I can understand going 44 mag because of ammo costs. But then again you probably won't shoot it that much and bigger is better right so 50AE might be better, ha. It's one of those cool guns to break out when you shoot with friends and family once a year or so.

I have a Mark XIX in 44 mag - the 50AE barrel is a simple drop on, and requires a 50AE mag but that is about it for the conversion.
I don't have a 50AE barrel yet. ( I do have the 50 AE mags... ) That said - I am in no rush to drop the coin on a 50 AE barrel - I would rather get the IMI BFR in 45-70 with a good piece of glass on top. Jacketed bullets only - though some powder coaters claim no problems. I would only try coated bullets with gas checks. |
|
At that price, even if you don't want it, buy it and resell it. Pretty rare to see them that low even beat up.
I have one with both 44 and 50 barrels. I bought it for the 44. After shooting both, the 44 ain't shit next to that 50. So there is your talk down from the ledge. Don't do it unless they throw in a 50 AE barrel for a reasonable upcharge. |
|
Well I bought a less crazy gun to scratch my itch.
I bought a Colt Special Combat used for $799 which is more in line with my interests and collection. Attached File Attached File Though the dealer I got it from did have the cheetah spotted DE in 44 Mag for $1100 used. I have to admit, I did think about it for a minute |
|
If you're gonna get a deagle, you really need it in the gold tiger stripe.
|
|
Dude, that's stupid.
Get the .50ae. Jesus. ETA: I'm so disappointed in you, OP. |
|
My boss has one that I'm considering buying off him, just to have a deagle with beams.

You went from a Dessert Eagle to a 1911? A gun that EVERYONE has? Did you vote for Cruz? Because this seems like something a Cruz voter would do. Desert Eagle is on the list of 10 guns to buy in 4 years of Trump.

Oh. A 1911. Nice.
>unsubscribes< Just kidding. That is a nice looking pistol. The Desert Eagle would have been a more appropriate Trump pistol. |

If you're going to get a completely pointless and utterly ridiculous gun, might as well go all the way and get the 50. Even better if it's gold plated. You could kill the hell out of wild hogs in the brush with that. Would be a really fun sort of hunt, if a bit dangerous. |

I would probably have gone for the Deagle though if I didn't have one already. But to each their own. Side Question: Is that a Rack'Em Rack on the top of your safe door? If so, work well for you? Any sagging issues fully loaded with 1911s? Doesn't look like it. Have you ever used any of the racks that would attach to that top one and hang below? Or just come with the safe? |

It is a Rack 'em rack and I like it a lot. I have had no issues with it but it does require you to drill into the top of the safe door. It's only two small holes and no big deal to me. I have not used the racks that fasten into the bottom as my safe has a door organizer that came with it as well as a door mounted rifle rack that prevents me using it. The only issue I had was I ordered it off of Amazon and the first one or two had pretty good damage to the rubber coating and had to send it back. Here's another shot of it straight on http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o355/banshee207/1911s/SAM_2752_zpspu2dov7u.jpg View Quote Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I was looking at these but the comments about sagging on Amazon put me off. Still not sure I can maximize storage using it versus building a custom cabinet inside the safe but I am liking the simplicity of this (read: feeling lazy). Mind if I grab your picture and comments to add to the thread on storage solutions? (with proper credit of course ) |

View Quote I had two, they are better guns than most people think. .44 is the way to go too. Handload some 300gr XTPs to 1325fps with Vihtavuori N110 and let 'em rip. 1 more round in the mag than the .50 AE and more available and cheaper components. The 300gr .429" bullets will have a higher SD than the 300gr .50" bullets. |

I still need a US&S, a Savage slided one and a Remington UMC. If I find a deal on a Navy I would get one of those too. My US&S is a stand in for now as it's an arsenal rebuild with a US&S slide |
