Preferred work schedule??
Poll inbound. |

Well I currently work 5 11s + an 8 hour day every other Saturday. So 3 12s would be mighty fine.

I prefer not having a schedule and doing whatever the hell I want. Unless there's stuff I have to do. Then I can't do whatever the hell I want.
|
|
[#6]
Would love to do the 4, 10 hr shifts and also have weekends off.
|
|
[#7]
Used to work four 10 hour shifts at work, but they got all retarded and made us switch to five 8s.

I work 4, 12 hour days with Friday-Sunday off. Can't be it in my mind
|
|
[#10]
Long rotations 12+ hours a day.
Around 2 weeks on and 1 week off is about right. |
|
[#12]
Mine is awesome...5 12s and subject to get calls at any off or weekend hour. Highly recommend it

|
[#14]
4 on/ 4 off. 12 hr shifts. Days-nights rotate
Think retirement sounds better |
|
[#15]
I work 4 10's, Mon-thurs. I liked it better on night shift, but it's still pretty great for days as well. I've been spoiled on it and don't think I could go back to working 5 days a week.

[#16]
I prefer 4x tens with 3 weekdays off. I prefer to be off weekdays rather than the weekends when everyone else is off trying to do stuff.
Cheers! -JC |

9/80, every other Friday off. I like it better than 4-10s during the winter since I would never see the sun outside of work most days...I wouldn't mind 4-10s in the summer though
|
|
[#18]
3-13's, Mon,Tues Wed shift swapping with Thurs Fri Sat shift quarterly. 2 extra weeks vacation a year.

My schedule sucks... I work rotating 8's(8am-4 pm... 4p-12a) 4 days on, 2 days off, 5 days on, 2 days off of day work then switch to night work... only get a sat/sun off every 3 months... same 2 days off for two weeks in a row then it drops back one day... so sat/sun-sat/sun, fri/sat-fri/sat, thu/fri-thu/fri... etc. absolutely fucking sucks.

I do three 12's, then five days off, then four 12's and two days off. Off every Mon and Tue, work every Thur and Fri, off every other Sat and Sun, and alternate Wed's. 7am to 7pm It's not one of the poll choices, WTH?

What are these "shifts" you speak of? I'm salaried and work in software. That's an industry that historically expects long hours, but we do tend to take weekends off except during crunch times.

The normal schedule at the last place I worked was 4/10s, but we were so overloaded that they were paying overtime, so most of us put in 5 and even 6 day weeks, especially in the winter.
Yeah, we were money-grubbing Capitalists. |

Hard to beat 4 10's. I do enjoy my 3 day weekends. Kharn I like mine and I work nights so I almost get 4 day weekends |

[#32]
I work 5-Eleven's at minimum. Nights at that.
I don't know what normal is anymore... |

4 10's in a heartbeat. Had it for a couple years and that company downsized and I was forced out and back into the stupid 5 8hour shifts. Three day weekends, every weekend FTW!

I prefer mine. I work on average 3-4 hours onsite about 30min remotely in a day, make my schedule for the most part and make on average $60-$70k in Oregon.

I'd work 4 10's if it was an option. My next favorite is my current schedule, 12 hour rotating nights and days.

Here's mine. 12.5 hr shifts.
Work Monday have Tuesday Wednesday Thursday off. Work Friday Saturday Sunday have Monday off. Work Tuesday Wednesday Thursday off have Friday Saturday Sunday off. Essentially I work 6 out of 7 and have off 6 out of 7. 1 day of vacation equals 7 days off on my short week. |

What, exactly, do you do? View Quote IT consultant. I have about 20 customers I take care of. I need to step it up though, get more into managed services/contract work. I have maintenance agreements with alot of my customers but I need to get more customers and hire a few guys so I can leave for a week vacation without the stress. I'm really lucky to have my schedule though, ironically most of my good friends are self employed and my nurse girlfriend only works Monday through Thursday during day so I have alot of people close to me with similar flexible schedules. Takes the edge off life having all that. |

48/96 was best schedule I ever worked. Working 5-10s and an 8 right now and it sucks, but the money is good
|

Back when I was working we had a choice.
I tried 4 tens but hated it and went back to 5 eights. |

[#47]
Back in the early 90's I worked weekends in a nursing home. I worked four shifts and got paid for five. I'd come in Friday night at 10 and work until 2 pm Saturday, go home for 8 hours, then start again Saturday night at 10 and work til two on Sunday. I was then off until the following Friday night and do it again. The work sucked but I liked the schedule.

Alternating 4 tens to make every other weekend a 4 day vacation.
