At 4H camp, yes.  1980 something

Not at school.  It has been 35+ years since I thought about it.  Back then even the kids thought it was fun.  I am sure these days it won't fly at all.

I remember having a one afternoon "class" just once.  No idea what year it was.  Never did it again.  Had to be late 60's or early 70's.  By the mid 70's I was in the Army.

Yes.

Utah. Early 1980s.

Had a great time. Practiced for weeks. Then did it for the rest of the school. Then had a night and invited the parents and community to come and watch.

I am not just saying this. We were pretty dang good.

No square dancing. I believe that I may have been briefly introduced to some sort of line dancing in elementary school. Nothing like that taught in middle school. In high school, none of the units in the standard PE class were dance related- after freshman year, there was a dance class that was available for PE credit (instead of typical PE).

We had square dances in the gym often when I was in grade school. Desegregation had just changed the diversity of my school which made a dance like that an awkward affair, we didn't want to dance with or touch each other initially so the partner picking was painful the first few times. My teacher decided to do the pairings from then on, one time she paired me with Fleetris (sp), I was about 9 years old and she was probably 14-15 and much taller than me, both in the 4th grade.

When we did the do-si-do I went airborne every time, she swung me around like a rag doll. It was painfully embarrassing to me and all my classmates were laughing and pointing at me but she was loving it and stepped it up. Made me so mad I put a thumb tack in her chair later, big mistake. Explaining cuts and bruises from fighting to my dad was nothing new to me, explaining to him how I got my ass kicked by a black girl was worse than the beating she gave me.

Welcome to the South in the '60's

Yes, during the '50s.

I dated a square dancer for a couple of years during the mid-'80s. Had a damn good time, but she was a die-hard Democrat and afraid of my horse, so...

Yes, mid 80's. But I was sent to the principals office for refusing to hold girls hand. JHC I just remembered this after all those years.

Ain't it weird how perfectly tucked away in there things can be.  Kinda like finding something in the house you lost and haven't seen or thought about in years.  Then one day you stumble upon it and bam, you find it and it looks just like the last time you saw it.  How can a whole memory just hang out so long without being accessed, how much space does it take up, does it move locations when found.

Yep. Hated it. In elementary school on rainy days, instead of playing outside, we were forced into the gym to square dance. Believe that helped to develop my disdain for authority.

Yup, early 80's elementary school.  in Gym class at that!  I hated it.  I hate dancing.   Now that I think about it, I probably hate dancing because of those experiences.

We also did crap with a parachute.  Some kind of weird pseudo-dancing thing, spinning around all holding this parachute up so it wouldn't touch the ground.  I think it was more to just keep us occupied than actually learn anything.

(This was also back in the days when you weren't required to give everyone a valentine (I never got any.   )  And, we would raise the flag outside on the flagpole and say the Pledge every morning.)

Happy New Year everyone!

Just checking back to see if MK-CULTRA has been banned yet.  I see staff locked his other thread, the one where he's crying like a f... (oh wait, that would be a CoC violation, and I can't call him that HERE, that will have to wait for my pit thread later) because a man corrected him about RAM trucks.  Obviously, whoever that man was, he sized him up correctly at glance, that's for sure.

Still here?  If so, looking forward to inviting you into the pit after that 24 hours I gave you (see page 3) is up!

And then, we'll get things hashed out and give you a chance to learn some manners for yourself.

Y'all have a nice day now and best wishes to everyone for 2017.  MAGA '17!

Square dancing was the rainy day PE in elementary school (early to mid 1970s).

In jr high, one of the gym teachers decided that we needed to learn how to disco dance.

In high school it was ballroom dancing.  Freshman year gym class was my first exposure to ballroom dancing.  Somehow ended up with a dance partner that was a sophomore and very, very pretty.  I was so nervous that I was sweating buckets and couldn't think of anything to say.  Kept trying to concentrate on my feet and not stepping on her feet.  Couldn't look down at my feet, because that would make it look like I was staring at her chest.

Eventually, she said something that she really shouldn't have said:
"The guys are doing so much better, this year.  Last year, they kept stepping on our feet."

Why did she have to say that?

Wasn't 30 seconds later that I had to apologize for stepping on her foot.

And I was just starting to like your crotch shot  If this AlterEgo got so out of line that he created and is posting from a different account and doesn't recall a thing about it, I would hope that you would call medical attention for me, instead of beating me up in the pit.

(Thinking about getting rid of the "crotch shot" since all I get for it is grief, but it stays for now, cuz I gotta have me a 17'er's account to notch my gun with!).

ETA: Sorry I said OP when I meant the other guy.  I got confused about what thread I was in.
