I guess it's not just Southerners who can't drive in ice and snow.

Damn. The video is worth watching. It's hard to get happy after that shit.

Past two VDOT ice spreader trucks in the ditch on the way to work today plus assorted small car wrecks. One sports car rear ended a pickup truck salt spreader.

it's warmer now, but I told the dog no way was I walking him down the driveway this morning, I almost fell on my ass.

I can see how these things happen.
I've been driving in Utah a few winters while that inversion layer thing was going on with fog and cold, and everyone was still going 60mph or faster even though you couldn't see more than a couple hundred feet on the highway. |
|
Ah, it's that time of year again. We got about 4 inches of snow last night, and I can hear the tards spinning their tires, and over revving their engines trying to get up the hill.

My driveway is still covered with ice. View Quote Mine too. Maybe this'll be the year I finally put some chains on my sub-compact JD! My driveway is over 600', paved, on a hill. Ice leaves me stranded unless I've parked down by the road - which I really hate to do, lest some idiot thrown a beer bottle through a window or something . . . |

"The tanker was probably going the mileage of I-95"
Where the heck do they hire news people from? Kindergarten? |

View Quote I have the same kind of driveway. Very steep and long. Even a little bit of mess and i either have to park at the bottom or stay home. Made the mistake of getting brave in my old f150 years ago, and slid down backwards into a tree. |

Damn. The video is worth watching. It's hard to get happy after that shit. View Quote Watching a man die doing his job first thing in the morning puts a damper on the mood. Icy bridges are a bitch.. Much more so at night. For the northerner and southerner bull shit.... I have driven on both. "Southern" Ice is particularly nasty usually because when it happens there there is a nice wet layer on top. "Northern" Ice is usually covered with some snow so you have a little bit of traction until that gets compacted into ice too. Then it is just as bad as above. Add to that Southerners are not used to driving on it. For the most part northerners should be... I had so much fun on the way to Oklahoma this spring. Going through Kansas City in my Mustang on what seemed to be a quarter inch of ice on the highway. Cars and trucks playing highway crash up derby while my my Mustang was puttering along like a happy puppy wagging his tail. |

Its fucking crazy. I drove by the 25 car pile up on 495. And many other cars that were spun out.
Retards. |

Hate to see people go like that.
Is it me, or does that truck look like its hauling ass? |

I was just up that way yesterday (Hagerstown, MD). We were going to head up in the morning (leave here 7-8am and get there ~11am), but the guy we were meeting wouldn't be around until 230pm. So we waited and left home around 11am. Good thing too! We called him when we got close, and he told us about that pileup and the shitty road conditions (2-3" of sleet/snow).
The thing is, it was 60°F in Winchester VA! Hit snow at the WV border and was like WTF Hit MD and the plows were still out on I-81 pushing shit off the shoulders. Saw a couple semi's jackknifed facing the wrong way in northern VA...saw several spots in WV and MD where cars slid off the road and into the trees... |
