I colld blued the parts and is back together. Feels like a different gun. I sanded the parts with a 220 disk. It was a fun little project.

Wow. A thread that included a dremel, 1911 and cold blue that ended up making me want to buy one to mod......good job op.

Thank you for that final picture OP. It looks like the logo is mostly masked with the cold blue. I just love the plain slide, but not sure if the coverage is enough to go for it yet.

This one saw a lot of filing, sanding, and dremel work to get to here but I started with a frame slide and a. Inch of parts to build it for my wife. I just need to install the plunger tube (more dremel) and do a little fine tuning. May replace the grip safety, this STI grip safety still hangs up a little but the Ed Brien one I put in the one I'm building for me went in easy.
