Me too.

Not likely injured, but that could be a mind-fuck for some folks. I think I'd be rattled.

Look at the initial image, not the video, there's serious damage to the truck. The difference is that the truck didn't move, it just got it's front end ripped up as the car crunched into the front bumper and then under. Modern big trucks aren't nearly as durable as you think when it comes to collisions. There's a lot of mass overall, a lot of steel in the frame, but the rest? Built to save weight and be easier to work on when possible. You may have seen how they are designing new barricades to stop big trucks. Basically they ignore the bulk of the vehicle and are just making sure their immovable object encounters the frame of the truck. The engine, tranny... all get shoved right back into the cab along the way, but the actual STOP was accomplished almost instantly when the nose to tail frame hits. Those suckers can twist under torque, but head on it isn't gonna give so it just stops. In one video you see the dump truck bed (that they had full for the test) break free partially and slam into the body work and forward until the U bolts hit something they can't slide past, scary stuff. I'm waiting to see one done with a propane or oil delivery truck where the container is more solidly mounted to the frame rails. I wonder if it would flip it or just hop a bit.

Why risk the safety of the public over something minor like shoplifting.

These weren't armed robbery or kidnapping suspects.

Bad chase.

The only person risking the safety of the public was the perp, who is now dead by his own hand. But yes, just blame the police, the onus is always on them and not the behavior of these idiots.

It's reasonable to place some blame here on the police.

If they hadn't initiated the chase the shoplifters very likely wouldn't have been flying down a road like that.

It's not necessary to escalate a situation like that over a minor thing like shoplifting.

It's pure random luck that the trucker wasn't injured.

Still giving it the boo of the week: bad chase.

That Dept. needs to review its policies / provide more training to its officers.

One of the two cars was stolen, wasn't clear if it was this one or the one the female was driving, [the red Pontiac was hot]  plus the fraudulent credit cards....doesn't really equal a death sentence, but they were clearly up to no good.  Fortunately, no innocents were seriously injured.

I bet if it was your shit that got stolen you would want the cops to chase them.

Shoplifting is a crime my department allows us to pursue for.

Good pursuit.

You mean if they hadn't tried to initiate a stop which the perps refused to do?  Who refused to stop and who drove recklessly down the road at an insane level of speed?  You can rationalize this all you want, but at the end of the day, all the responsibility lies with the dead idiot. Modern America....lulz.
