I have the EU2000i, with a tri-fuel kit from Maine Generator.

Yes, with the Companion model you only need a $20 set of cables to connect the two, as opposed to the parallel box needed to hook two standard Eu2000i models together, which costed like $200 or so.
5he 3000is was too heavy for the output. Very quiet and had electric start, but too heavy to be real portable. Having two 2000 units offers a lot more flexibility. |

We bought a eu3000is a few years ago for our camper. It runs the AC, TV, etc. with ease and is super quiet. A few times people camping nearby have wandered over and asked what kind of generator it is because it runs so quiet.
It is heavy though. |

Just in and out of the truck when we go up to our acreage. If all goes well I'll be buying the 3000 on Thursday. |

I have the 2000 and it's the shitz. Quiet, easy starting, efficient, and dependable.
We dry camp in the middle of nowhere and the little Honda keeps my dog happy with AC on the hottest afternoons. We run the Honda on a big long extension power cord and it keeps my RV's heat pump running. |

A eu2000 will not run the small AC (AC needs lots of power on startup.) in our camper. That's the reason I went for the 3000.

I think they make a 'soft start' option for some Camper AC's that will start up something (fan??) before the compressor cuts on so it doesnt hit the gen all at once.. Brian |

I have one EU2000 I use for my camper. I couldn't believe how long that thing will run, I turned it on before bed and it ran until at least 10am the next morning. I was using it to power the microwave, tv, and fridge in my camper.

Had a 3000 for a few years and upgraded to a 6500 due to increased power needs. No problems out of either one of them and the 6500 has over 4000 hrs on it. All I have ever done is change the oil religiously. Oil changes are quick and easy. I had computers running off the 6500 connected to a UPS and I would often change the oil without even shutting the computers down.

There are 2 negatives in my experience - 1) 3kW isn't quite big enough 2) like mentioned above it's not really easily portable by one person, if I was starting over I'd get 2 EU2000's. If you're getting a good deal I wouldn't hesitate to buy a EU3000. |

One of my racing buddies has been running one 300-400 hours a year for 8 years now. If I ever have to replace my 12 year old Honda eu2000i I will get the Champion. It has no fuel pump like the Honda 2000, it's gravity fed so you cant use a remote tank. |

EU2000 owner here Quiet, sips gas, very portable. Only complaint is carb is sensitive to leaving fuel in it. Monthly load test prevents gumming. I bought a Yamaha, the ef1000i model. Most everybody says that both them and the Honda's are great. Quiet, sip gas, bulletproof reliability.
The Yamaha was ever so slightly quieter and has a fuel shutoff valve, And the shape and size worked a bit better for what I needed. I'd have no hesitation with the Honda though. I was very impressed with the design details of the Yamaha. The super quiet is great for camping. First use had us maybe 100 yards away from some other campers with a traditional "loud" generator for their small travel trailer. Their unit was almost as loud in our camp as our unit was on the high efficiency mode. |

Start the A/C unit and crank it all the way down. Once the compressor starts it will run the A/C just fine back on ECO mode. That's the thing tough. I have to leave the A/C all the way on because it can't ramp up fast enough in ECO mode to handle the surge load when the compressor starts. I'm hoping to get a second unit down the road to be able to use the thermostat on days when it's not sweltering hot. |
