Someone explain whats going on. View Quote July 20th 2016, MA Attorney General submits a op ed piece to the Boston Globe about how evil killy assault rifles have no place in society and holds a press conference in which she reinterprets MA AWB (which mirrors the 1994 Federal ban) by essentially banning any mag fed semi auto gun that share any commonality or parts interchange with a AR15. In MA in order to get a LTC you need to apply for one at the PD where you live. The Chief has the issuing authority for your LTC and state law gives them discretion as to who gets one and who does not. The tweet is referring to people trying to renew but getting deinied because they own a EVIL RIFLE or GUN. |

Ok.
Wow. So a person owns the rifle but won't be allowed the permit to legally poses the rifle (and any other guns they might have). Basically making the person give up the rifle to not become a felon. It seems like that is what's happening. Is that what's happening? ETA: Fuck Massachusetts |

Possession of a AW is a felony in the Commonwealth. Nothing like a AG legislating and making ex post facto laws that turn the law abiding into felons. If you don't have a LTC you have to turn your guns into the police or get them out of state fast. |

In MA you need a License to Carry to possess any firearm related material which includes firearms made after 1899, bullets, shell casings, magazines etc. What? Exactly. Here is the law: MA GL Chapter 140 Section 131: A Class A license shall entitle a holder thereof to purchase, rent, lease, borrow, possess and carry: (i) firearms, including large capacity firearms, and feeding devices and ammunition therefor, for all lawful purposes, subject to such restrictions relative to the possession, use or carrying of firearms as the licensing authority deems proper; and (ii) rifles and shotguns, including large capacity weapons, and feeding devices and ammunition therefor, for all lawful purposes; provided, however, that the licensing authority may impose such restrictions relative to the possession, use or carrying of large capacity rifles and shotguns as it deems proper. A violation of a restriction imposed by the licensing authority under the provisions of this paragraph shall be cause for suspension or revocation and shall, unless otherwise provided, be punished by a fine of not less than $1,000 nor more than $10,000; provided, however, that the provisions of section 10 of chapter 269 shall not apply to such violation. |

Do you have a law firm drafting the lawsuit? I assume a MA specific firearm rights group is already all over this?
|

Well that's the most fucked up thing I've read all day.
I especially love how they've gone through three or four processes to effectively ban AND CONFISCATE rifles from their citizens, without actually saying that they are doing it. |

So unless you have a license to carry in Massachusetts you can't own a firearm, not even a shotgun? |

This is what happens when the people allow things to go far.
Discretionary permit issuing FA-10 AG's approved roster Permit required to posses anything firearms related Permit required for pepper spray And there's more, much, much more that has gone too far. And now Healey's assault on the people's rights. This isn't a result of these most recent actions by the AG, this is a result of the people of MA allowing the nanny-state to rule their lives for far too long. Cheers! -JC |

I've heard plenty of CA owners use MSR to describe their rifles. 2nd, the red parts go together, but do not go with the green parts. For now. You may now return to bashing your fellow gun owners. |

So a friend of mine gave his father, who resides in MA, an M1 Garand for his 70th birthday. Is this something my friend should hold onto until his father moves out of MA or is it grandfathered in? His father does not have a permit of any sort.

Sounds like the kind of tyranny that could drive a man to start killing democrats.

NY and MA are in their own orbit but some like CA are coming close. Not sure if CA got the required number of sigs. to get ballot initiatives to thwart recent laws. We're contesting it anyway.
