It is a good idea. They respond very well. They helped me out with my Akins Accelerator. It sure seemed illegal and their new letter affirmed it.

Try explaining that to a LEO.
You: " you see, this is an SBR, short barrel rifle."
LEO: " so it's a rifle"
You:" well yes by name, but not really."
LEO:"you said it's  a rifle with a short barrel though."
You: " well yes, but no."
LEO: " you think Im a clown huh?, please step out of the vehicle and put your hands behind your back."

Why? I am right. Look it up. A Sbr is not a rifle just like a ar pistol is not a rifle. Both are considered firearms which can be carried in your vehicle with a LTCF.

- I want a lower I can take across state lines without permission.
- Due to state law I can only have a loaded pistol in my vehicle with concealed carry.

I thought the law allows to be carried a loaded "pistol"
If the law states that carrying a pistol is legal then only is a pistol legal to carry.

I forgot the wording they used?

Except as otherwise provided in this title, it is unlawful for any person to have a firearm of any kind in or on or against any conveyance propelled by mechanical power or its attachments at any time whether or not the vehicle or its attachment is in motion unless the firearm is unloaded.

Now at first glance that would ban people from carrying loaded handguns in the cars too (when in possession of a valid License to Carry Firearms). However, one of the exceptions is:

A person carrying a loaded pistol or revolver when in possession of a valid firearms license.

But it's not a pistol and that the law specifically exempts form the carry in car load statute

Firearms owners turning cannibal and eaten if they have a sig  brace by those who have a short barrel rifle.  Kind of like kids in grade school picking on the other kids because they don't have $200 tennis shoes.

From my understanding you have a firearm, a rifle or a shotgun. I rifle has to have a 16 inch barrel and a shotgun has to have a 18 inch barrel. If the rifle or shotgun has a barrel shorter than the required length it becomes a firearm. Once it is a firearm you can carry it legally in your car. I have never had a sbr owner in pa say otherwise and I believe a lot of them carry them in their cars loaded since it meets the requirements by law. One thing for certain the law is not 100% clear just like pa school carry which most people believe is legal but if you read the law concerning school carry it is vague.

I don't know who here wrote one but there was that sheriff deputy from colorado and someone else who fucked this up, along with the bunch of guys here flaunting pics of shouldering it , basically poking the bear *ATF* on the issue.
I have read and reread the gun control act of 68 along with the NFA of 1934

I don't write any letters unless I am sure the outcome of the result is 100% in our favor (and by our I mean gun owners)

Yeah except I can cross state lines with my AR pistol, loan it to friends, ride around with it fully loaded in my car, carry it concealed, etc. etc. etc.

And it shoots just as well as your SBR.
