PO did a number on it attempting to do his own body work with a cutoff wheel.

Got all the parts to get it back together though.

Still not sure what to do for a power plant. I have the original 400, can get a 455, or always go the lsx route.

Gonna do the pro touring route with coil overs all over, big brakes, more power,  ac and all the modern amenities.

That's a mess, why not just get a new body?

I'll do just about anything with my old cars and trucks, but I fucking hate bodywork.

It always winds up costing a lot more time and money than you thought it would.

Car was a gift.  I'm not in a hurry and doing body work in the garage is free.  My FIL is gonna walk me through the process.

I'd keep it all Pontiac. Stroker kit for the 400 would work since that's what you have now.

Good luck with it!

That was my first thought but I have a later casting with the weaker block that can only handle about 400 hp.

This, definitely this.

You'll have more hrs into it than you will ever recover vs buying a running driving heap someone is trying to get rid of.

All the modern amenities except for the motor? Go LS1 swap and call it good.

Me? I'd be dead before I ever got that damn thing half done.

I'd never take on something that far gone

Op, get some struts built for those door openings asap.

Those cars had very little torsion strength when they were new and had quarters.  I have had to damage 3 in the last 10yrs pulling them back into square after exactly what is in your pic!!!!

Southern guys.......that car in that state looks like a slam dunk.  Us northern restores would love to rebuild one that rust free.  Hell, I'm used to rotten inner wheelhouses and floors with no rocker remaining.

Yeah there's no rust to speak of.  I have a graveyard of parts to access for anything I need.  It's not near as bad as it looks.

I see a car with original paint, a solid roof (no t-tops is a plus in my book) and no rust. OP says he has all the parts. Only problem I see is what the previous owner did. Maybe OP just wants to have fun with it.

You graft that roof off a '78 or later car?  I put one on a '73 Z-28 I once owned.  Everyone told me it couldn't be done because of the wrap around rear glass.  Idiots didn't realize the roof section was the same, it was the QP's that were different for the wrap around glass.

Yes, a partial collapse of the storage building smashed my roof. Instead of a Hurst t top (correct for a 77 ), I have a Fisher. Bought the roof and glass for $200.
