Donald kept his word, and at the Republican Party Conention he backed the Party Nominee in a very well received speech for which he was given thunderous applause.

Lyin' Ted on the other hand, was booed off the stage and dumped by his most ardent and important supporters and donors because he lied and broke his word as well as his signed pledge.

I'll give Manafort the credit he deserves for destroying Cruz at the convention. Well played.

Donald, to his credit, gave Cruz his chance to either shine or stink up the room.

Cruz had a golden opportunity at that  moment, to boost his political creds and cast himself as the next  Ronald Reagan, but small, petty man that he is, Cruz just didn't have it in him, so he chose to stink up the room and self destructed instead.

This is effing pathetic. If Hillary wins this Fall, I will point to Trump's inability to pivot his campaign to target Hillary as the reason. Is Hilldog kicking Bernie now that she's the nominee? Nope.

Naturally we all lose, so it's not like I'll feel great about it.

All this because Trump personally slagged Cruz and his family, and then unreasonably expected complete obeisance. Cruz's speech was excellent, only worthy of anger if you Trumpers don't believe your candidate is the people's "conscientious" vote. Which says a lot about how weak you think your candidate is.

I've never seen such fear in the supporters of the actual nominee. Buyer's remorse?

Sorry, but... yawn.

There is no current infighting between Bernie and Clinton (though that is likely to change soon). Cruz represents a significant block of voters and there is the presumption of loyalty.

These square-peg in round-hole monikers such as Trumpers and the like are inaccurate. It's no more complicated than a common bell-curve distribution with NeverTrump on one end and Trumpers on the other end primarily in increasingly smaller numbers. Just about everyone falls somewhere in the middle and many of us are looking at this as a NeverHillary thing; not running towards Trump, more like running away from HRC.

Leadership is supposed to be about doing what is right for a purpose that transcends the leader. These candidates tell us they choose to run for these public positions at the cost of great personal sacrifice to themselves and family because the need and desire to serve is a property of the fabric of their very being. Forsaking that because one was insulted when there was plenty of mud slinging to go around suggests conflict with conflict of interest and is unable to be overcome. It's a flaw and I voted for Cruz by the way. He's not standing on his principles, he's hedging his bets with his eyes on 2020.

Bush got excoriated for more or less the same thing, but Cruz gets a pass mainly by those that still support him. I'm sure there are some Jeb supporters saying the same thing though their numbers must be count-on-one hand small.

Cruz was a good candidate before he no longer was.

The most perfect conservative who might very well make everyone happy all of the time on all issues might be some retired housewife in Kansas. Without appeal, support, money and of course some common sense, many ambitions never see the light of day or are relegated to obscurity.

And by the way that poll you quoted earlier appears to be essentially worthless.

I can't believe how many beta males here would have endorsed Trump after the things he said about both his wife and father.

I think the much used "Cuck" is an appropriate term here.

You are the kind of guys that would let someone else fuck your wife then thank them for it.

And I am not a Cruz fan at all, guy is a fucking lunatic.

Anyone who reads Cruz's speech would agree that it is a favorable speech to the Republican Party.  Sure Cruz didn't say the magic word 'endorse' but that doesn't mean that Cruz didn't help the republicans win this November by encouraging them to get out and vote for constitutional candidates.  Only someone who doesn't think that Trump is a constitutional candidate would see that as a non supportive speech.

WTF?  Heller affirmed the 2A as an individual right-the first time the USSC has issued such an opinion in U.S. history.  Roberts agreed in a 5-4 decision in our favor.

His arguments were "unusual and dangerous"?   I read his arguments and it addressed Heller and nothing more.  His arguments worked.  Only here in DU is Cruz vilified for Heller, while the most pro-2A organization(s) in the America heap praise upon the man for his success in the USSC.

You know, I tried to get one of his critics-a supposed "lawyer" here in DU none the less-to point out just what was so treacherous about his amicus brief, and all I got was a big fucking nothing in response.  That about says it all.

Apparently that means anyone with the exception of  Cruz's core political supporters and donors within the Republican Party.

'Cause they dumped him right after that smarmy speech like he was yesterday's lunch burrito.

Ironically, Cruz's attempt to tank Trump boomeranged on him and has actually given Donald a boost and raised Trump's prospects while incinerating himself by his own hand.

Cruz made a very, very bad political decision. If he could not bring himself to endorse Trump, he should have just stayed away from the Republican convention. Now, whether Trump wins or loses, Cruz will be seen by Republicans the same way Ralph Nader was seen by Democrats after 2000 - as a self-centered spoiler. In other words, Cruz has committed political suicide.

Telling the people at the Republican convention to vote for someone who their conscience tells them will protect the constitution is not an endorsement of Trump?

Your blind support of a NY Liberal Democrat in favor of a Senator from Texas who has fought for our gun rights is disturbing.

Yet you say we're the Hillary voters if we even have the slightest concerns about Trump.

Yet you, yourself, reserve the right to employ such colorful appellations of yourbto use against Trump and his supporters.

Butthurt Creme anyone.

Trump rolled over your guy like Grant rolled though Richmond, and, as events have already proven, Donald's got a far better chance of pulling off a miracle against the Clinton/media/ establishment machine than smirking Teddy ever had.

I hope he can succeed; and I think he might just continue to pull of the greates string of upsets in American political history.

Uh, because we're smart enough to recognize dog whistling when we hear it? Anyone with half a brain sees what he's trying to do. He wants his supporters to write his name in and give the election to Clinton, so he can try again in four years.

Can't wait to vote him out of office.

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/sheldon-adelson-republican-convention-2016-225814

Adelson raised hopes among Trump’s allies when he signaled that he might donate as much as $100 million or more to super PACs supporting Trump’s White House bid, which has failed to attract support from most of the party’s top donors.

GOP finance circles have been buzzing about when — or if — the check would come, and to which of the competing super PACs it would be written. And several GOP fundraisers told POLITICO that Adelson, a hawkish supporter of Israel and Jewish causes, may have been discouraged by recent Trump missteps, including his campaign’s Tweet featuring a Star of David inscribed with text declaring Hillary Clinton the “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever,” superimposed over a pile of money. Trump claimed the six-sided star was meant to represent a sheriff's badge.

But on Monday, when Adelson pulled up to the city’s Public Auditorium and Conference Center for a foreign policy discussion hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition, he ignored a question about the controversial tweet and also one about when he was going to donate to help Trump.

Muh Israel!

$100 million in donations up in smoke. That sure would have been nice wouldn't it?

Not necessarily. Can facilitate via tax credits, something everyone might be able get behind. Would you support that?

No.  Not everyone pays taxes-especially as the middle class is contracting into oblivion, so these "tax credits" you speak of will morph into a big-government giveaway.

There's absolutely no doubt that in addition to publically giving his word and signing his name to his pledge to support the eventual Republican Party Candidate;  that he also gave his personal word and assurances in private to his donors as well.

Well  Smirking Ted Cruz lied to them and the chickens have come home to roost; he's now made himself despised, and rightfully so.

I don't care what I signed last week if you attack my wife's looks and lie about my father like a 6 year old kid then all bets are off. I will vote for Trump
because I have to and I really didn't think Cruz helped himself many times in this fucked up cycle but the one thing I wont fault him on is snubbing Trump.
I wouldn't bet it wasn't a plan by trump any way to keep shit going on and keep people like us bickering and involved.

I just wish we had much better choices from the start and if we did Trump would have been gone in week 2. that just shows how weak the field is on both side
when we argue over who is the biggest democrat in the republican party. I am not a very religious man but I tell ya I am looking for all the help we can get.

Everyone is proposing to change current taxing composition Trump included.

Under his proposal less than 50K will effectively pay no fed income tax. That would go a long way to making childcare affordable. Some moms don't work because the cost of childcare makes it unfruitful - the debate regarding the breakdown of the traditional family notwithstanding.
