I've never been comfortable with the grip on a single action, not really sure I would want to try to control anything really powerful in one. With singles, you don't try and control it. That and the Bisley grip makes a big difference. |

I have over 35 single action handguns. Some factory and custom Rugers built by Bowen, Linebaugh or Stroh.
I like the 5.5 the best balance wise and looks. Most have the banded front sight. It just looks right. I am interested in the Ruger 454 and 480. For two reasons. How they balance and look like with a hooded front sight with their longer 6 1/2 inch barrel. The 480 if it can be made into 475. |

Guy at the shop does conversions. Rugers to 5 shot big boys like .500 Linebaugh. I forget his others. I think there's a Casul in there. Hurts my old hands too much. I let go my super Blackhawk. View Quote .475 Linebaugh is a popular one as well. You can shoot .480 ruger in one as well, IIRC. |

I kind of want a Freedom Arms but would never use it. View Quote they're beautifully made and very accurate, but the Casull is a round for a narrow task. FA makes .357, .45 Colt and .41 mag in a smaller framed gun ( model 97, maybe?). They're verrrry nice guns and superbly accurate. pricey, though. |

Never handled one; for what they want for them, they must be nice. |

Much love for them and my only one is a very nice specimen indeed.
A Freedom Arms Casual model 83 that does the 454 caliber and has a matched 45 Colt cylinder for more fun. Incredible firearm and it's without a doubt the strongest and best handling one I've ever owned. It should also be noted that's the incredible feel of the action and it's inherent accuracy are as good as you've heard in others views. |

Ruger .44 Super Blawkhawk here, 4 5/8 barrel. I also have a S&W 29, Winchester 94, .44, & a Ruger Deerstalker. I like .44 mag!

Fantastic thread!
My Dad's (now mine) Colt Frontier Scout in .22 MAG, was the gun I knew growing up. It's big brother I purchased a couple years ago, Ruger Vaquero in .357 MAG steps it up a bit. I would really like a .45 LC to add to the mix. A.W.D. |

Are there some sources for replacement real American black walnut grips I can put on my Pietta SAA clone?
I don't care for whatever species of lacquered wood it came with. If I have to, I might be able to make my own. Also have a Colt SAA 7.5" I got new a couple years ago. |

I've got a Cimarron 1860 Richards-Mason conversion in .45 Colt that I absolutely love, and my wife has an 1851 conversion in .38 spl that she would never part with. She loads most of our ammo for both. I also have an original Webley Metropolitan Police in .450 Adams from the 1870's that I load for with cut down .45 Colt cases. It has the short "Bulldog" barrel and it's more fun to shoot than you could even imagine! Haven't found a holster for it yet though.

Shack is your TC contender in 45-70? Is that a handful? View Quote Yes it is. .Using my reloads(405 grain cast, starting load of IMR 4064) it's substantial but not terrible. With hotter(but still trapdoor safe) hunting loads it fucking sucks. I bought a box of Leverevolution shortly after I got the barrel. Took me 18 months to fire all 20. I did kill a deer with it two seasons ago, it does the job quite well. Lousy pic, need to put some effort into a better one. " /> |
