He's a first responder.  All-around great guy, and great American.  Currently carries some crappy S&W knife that's probably made out of melted Chinese stop signs because he can't afford a real nice knife.  I owe him a lot for all the help he's given me over the years, so I'm giving him a GOOD knife for Christmas.  Thinking of picking up his Christmas gift in May because I've found some good sales.  I've narrowed it down to the following:

Benchmade Barrage
DPX HEST
Southern Grind Bad Monkey
Spyderco Waved Endura
ZT 350
ZT 360
ZT 620

What's your pick?  I'm learning towards the 360 because of the glass breaker, and its unique status.

I'd say the ZT0620 since it's got the Emerson wave on it.

I'm not really a knife guy per se, but I've always carried one and ive always carried a benchmade. The blades have always come very sharp, they've held their edge, and their CS has always been good to me.

I carry a full size griptilian on duty.

If you're picking the 350 over the 360, might I ask why?  The 360 has a lightened blade (different profile on top) and a glassbreaker, otherwise there's no difference.

Benchmade or GTFO.

Voted ZT 360. It's my first non Spyderco knife so I might be a bit biased, but it's smooth and fits my hand perfectly.

LOL at that wavy-assed blade. They've got all sorts of gimmicky shit nowadays, don't they?

I don't dislike Spyderco, but I like Benchmades. ZT has some nice knives but I don't care for that wavy edged style. Looks like it's made for folks who only know how to sharpen knives with a v-notch "sharpening system".

Buy him two, you know the first one will get lost in a hurry just like buying your first pair of good sunglasses.

I am honestly surprised at the results here.  The Benchmade scored way higher than I thought it would, as did the 350, which I have never understood the love it gets.

Still looking hard at the 360, though the Barrage is closing in on it.

Not on the list, but look at the Endura. For the price you could get him two, one orange for work and another in purple or what the fuck ever.

Great quality and value.

Wow I'm blind as fuck.

Get a Piranha DNA straight edge.

they will not activate in your pocket.

DNA

It is sort of like a automatic all metal benchmade 710 and weighs about 2 ounces (half  as much a 710).

The grips look slick, but they grip really well. And you can clean them off easy.

My basic pocketknife is a Benchmade North Fork, so I may be a little biased, but it's been a damn good knife for a while now. Just bought a backup from REI last week!

I've only had 1 Spyderco.  It's the best daily carry knife I've ever had.  I'd replace it tomorrow with another just like it if I lost it.

Since he's a first responder, I think it's important that his knife open quickly and reliably.  That's why they're all assisted or waved knives, and why there are no autos on the list. (even though WI just legalized them a few months ago, God bless Scott Walker!)

That DQ's the Griptillian and non-waved Enduras.

Benchmade is overrated, flimsy garbage. They're like yeti coolers, every bro has to have one. ZT and Spyderco make some quality, sharp knives.

And I have 2 benchmades.

Of these two I greatly prefer the Paramilitary 2.  The Bradley is ergonomically inferior to a large degree.
