A lot of people argue that 7 guns can cover all your needs:
1. Combat handgun 2. Combat rifle 3. Carry gun 4. 30 cal hunting rifle 5. Shotgun 6. Rimfire rifle 7. Rimfire handgun I used to entertain delusions that I could keep my collection at no more than 15 guns. At this point, even if I sold the ones I'm ready to sell I'd still be over that, and I haven't even started buying guns for my children yet. |
I play this game all the time in my head.
1. 10/22 2. .38 snubbie 3. Hicap 9mm 4. 16" AR. 5. Backup 16" AR if my first one KB's, and new ones are banned. |
Thread title should say; "Expanding my gun collection to 20 guns."
You fail as a gun enthusiast. |
I see the words cutting, and gun collection. Individually, I know what they mean, but in that combination I have no freaking idea what you are talking about. What does that even mean? Your man card......has been revoked.

I could get by with a carry pistol and an ar15. I'm honestly getting tired of two safes jammed full of shit I never use. |

My four guns would be...
1. SR25 ECC 2. SR15 14.5 dimpled barrel SBR 3. SR15 11.5 XMAS CHEER SBR with dimpled barrel 4. GLOCK 19 |

No it's the border patrol model. I bought years ago, I think I paid $670 for it on edit I had an FFL at the time It might have been $620 but yeah I over paid for it |

OP I reject your premise. I like variety, and options, and excess. Why? Have to pay for lifesaving surgery? No just thinking this would be a well rounded assortment . Not really. I'm definitely in favor of having one of each type of gun instead of multiple examples of the same gun. Here's all the basic food groups: 22 rifle AR15 bolt action hunting weight rifle pump action 12 ga field gun pump action 12 ga riot gun 22 target pistol 9mm auto 44 mag revolver pocket gun for carry The above gives you a good variety and it's only 9 guns I never understood why some guys buy 12 glocks and 18 ARs It's boring to shoot the same gun all the time Also, you want to make sure the gun is "shootable". The gun should soak up some recoil and throw the noise and muzzle blast downrange pretty good. A lot of guns that are really cool looking or nice to carry are really shitty to try to target shoot with an example would be the S&W 44 mag mountain gun. It's a perfect gun until you go to shoot it. |
I could easily make due with my Rem 700, 12 gauge, VP9, SR-15, and .22.
It's a little bigger than that, but I keep the "collection" to a small number of shooters. |

View Quote sell the excess stuff and buy a real valuable collector gun the problem with guns is that they're ALL appealing so you keep buying and buying and then it sits About 10 years ago I decided to buy all the really classic guns I wanted when I was a kid. Like a 44 mag marlin and a s&W model 41 target pistol and a colt gold cup never shot any of them, sold them everything I bought was literally the best of the best but it just collected dust I would take my ruger 22/45 to the range and leave the 41 home |
I could be happy with 4 guns;
Glock 19 16" AR with T2 870 Then a bolt gun or a 18" AR with a scope. |

Connecticut
Less to have confiscated. Good planning OP ETA: I'm still sticking with my SHTF plan; If I find cartridge, any cartridge, I will have a gun that shoots it.... |
This thread reminds me -
when I got out of college I bought a reloading press, a S&W target 22 revolver, a S&W 357 mag revolver and a 30-30 I had so much fun with those guns, I shot them literally every single day there is a lot to be said for simplicity |

id rather have 4-5 guns I use and serve a purpose than 15+ guns that sit in the safe unshot.

When are we throwing guns in a pile and photographing them?
This seems like an apt thread. |
I can see what you are saying, that paring down can be ok, and you might even enjoy them more. IParing down to 8 to give you a nice, usable, variety. But I like em just for collecting. Like why my girlfriend has 20 pairs of shoes.
So, for the record: |
I keep saying I want to cut the collection down to 20 guns. I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to limit it to that though.

Glock 19 4. Spare Glock 19 6. S&W 15-22 In reality I have about 13 guns I hope OP is paring his down to get NODs |
