It's not worth fighting or dying over yet.  Most of the country wants socialism/free shit/American Idol.  They don't care about freedom and you can't bring freedom to those who don't cherish it.

Once it is it will probably be too little too late.

Yep. They're being called out on it more, as the site grows.

They don't get a nod and a wink anymore. There are more people willing to say "You know what? You're full of shit and talk is cheap. You'll roll over just like everybody else, and you know it".

I think a lot of people say that because it's the safest response.

We are still too comfortable. Revolt is to the suicide of our comfort.

Once that comfort begins to dissipate break out the popcorn as the show will begin.

As you stated most will roll over but a percentage will not.

Mass civil disobedience is everybody taking their now-illegal weapons out in public, and not giving two fucks if they get arrested for it.

What's actually happening, is people are stashing them behind the water heater (or wherever) "just in case" (now should have been that case if people were serious, but I digress - we already know they're not). That's effectively compliance. They're not using them, they're not selling them, they're not lending them to friends, they're not doing anything with them but hiding them in an attic or a closet.

From a gun banner's perspective - mission accomplished, even if they're not registered. They might as well be. Because right now, there's no functional difference between confiscation and squirreling them away. They're "off the street" either way.

They'll pick them off little by little as the years ago on. Some guy's wife gets pissed and wants to fuck him over in the divorce? "Oh BTW, he's got illegal assault weapons in the attic". Or they'll get picked off at a traffic stop by a deputy who works for a rural Sheriff that insisted he wouldn't enforce the SAFE Act (*snort*). Or...you get the idea.

Why would they; half the country pays no taxes, those making less than 70K are taxed at a "reasonable rate", Those making over 70K have too much to lose, and almost everyone has it withdrawn in small amounts that they never had in their hands to begin w/.

arfcom is a thinktank at best, not ones to act on anything.  I'm confident most of the members are 40+ and probably just as many overweight.

Compare that to any 'liberal' movement that has 20 somethings willing to run around the streets and burn shit and yeah, there's no revolution, just people living their lives, raising families and otherwise finding an outlet where they can gripe.

After reading a few books such as "The War of the Flea", "Resistance to Tyranny", "Total Resistance", "Special Forces Guerilla Warfare Manual" and a few others, the idea occurred to me of just what potential lies there.

If a person really wanted to bring this country down, he would work behind the scenes to have the  BLM, Black Panther Party, along other black nationalism groups, couple them with other anti-government groups operating in a cellular format and light off a real bonfire Che style.  These asshats have nothing to lose and are willing to get just as violent as they need be.  And there is the potential to recruit hundreds of thousands of those types.

God help us if someone who really knows what they're doing takes the helm of that undercurrent of hatred.

I strongly suspect that the founding fathers sat around and bitched for a long time before doing or even openly saying anything. The Founders may have been the 5th or 6th generation of like-minded people, but the first to see a morally acceptable and reasonably possible opportunity for action. The USSR fell pretty suddenly after much worse shit than we put up with. Ceaucescu had a pretty quick ride from the palace to the wall.

From what I can remember it really began a big decline after 9/11 and during the Bush years where enemies "foreign and domestic" suddenly meant liberals and terrorist sympathizers instead of the US government as it did during the late 90s. It hasn't really recovered.

The spread of information via the internet has really put a damper on it for multiple reasons. The bizarre fan-fiction about fighting a revolution gets exposed and ridiculed more than praised, especially by younger gun owners. People now assume that if you're advocating any violent illegal activity that you're a federal informant, because that's how all those little militia groups got rolled up by the feds. Then there's the fact that all these red lines have been crossed and no one has done shit, so making a new red line and talking about it is just going to embarrass yourself.

I don't even see "vote from the rooftops" anymore when it used to be a common saying. "Don't tread on me"and "Molon labe" are still used obviously but they communicate a general defiant and (most importantly) defensive notion about personal freedom that a lot of people can get behind. There's a natural moral high ground to defending your home while all the talk about overthrowing the government inevitably requires nasty justifications for killing lots of average Americans.

Obama fucking sucks balls but yes. The chair is by no means against the wall. I don't see Castro Level shit yet. Folks getting snatched up off the streets and from the bedrooms in the dead of night because they spoke against the government. I don't see the government simply taking people's property and wealth just because they can.

Are we fucked up? Yup. Are we that fucked up? Nope.

How many arfcommers ever show up when the chair IS against the wall?

That is just it.  The chair ISN'T against the wall, and it HASN'T been for my entire lifetime.    8 years under Obama has been better than 4 years under Carter.   If we can keep Hillary out of office, I'm fairly optimistic that I will die long before the chair will actually be against the wall.

There are more serious types who are taking classes in small unit tactics, expressing a desire to come home and train locals they know and trust. They've learned to be a bit more guarded since we know that the NSA is everywhere.

Why didnt he step up when the safe act happened or you for that matter?   Oh thats right, you are both probably ok with tyranny in the country so long as it isnt in your backyard and even if it was you probably wouldnt do shit.    Maybe you would, but i highly doubt it

How is talking on the internet telling everyone your intentions going to help anyone? There are those who talk, and there are those who do. Right now I fight with my wallet. Ask nolocontendre. I gave him a good chunk of cash at the NRA convention. I've also given thousands to the NRA-ILA.

You calling out people because of a cowardly few and saying everyone is like that is dishonest and naïve.

Note: the gun rights activist of Illinois just took out my money for my membership payment. I don't even live in that state. Right now money is what wins wars. Are you willing to fight the war or are you just wasting our time?

Thank God.  There is nothing more tiresome than the super patriot  'you don't know what true freedom is' or 'why do you hate freedom' zero-sum game weirdos.

Unlike ARFCOM crackpots, the founding fathers did more than sit around and bitch... I have yet to see one of our resident Thomas Paine starter kits put his money where his mouth is.

It could be said, and it was at the time, all the Founding Fathers were crackpots.

Well there really hasn't been "that moment" just yet. The government is smart and careful to just keep taking small bites out of our Freedom as to not piss us off too much. I think when it does happen there be those that will put their money where their mouth is.

But I do remember how the Bundy's and the others that stood up against the government were made fun of here. I may not agree with all of their gripes and actions but I do respect them for at least standing up.
