Pop out the trigger and hammer pins. take parts with you.
Small parts are a lot easier to lose than a bolt carrier.

Knock the front take down pin far right then break off the lug using the extra leverage of the pin.

This, it's just aluminum.  Or swing it like a baseball bat against something and you'll probably snap the lower where the stock mounts.  Or beat the thing with a hammer a couple of times.  Or just strip the bolt/bc out and toss them.

There are several posts about breaking the buffer tube. This is the correct way and there is some history behind this method.

Give it to a female soldier.

You win.

Not a great pic but:

This is a SHINING EXAMPLE..

I took this pic while I was at a DEFAC at Tallil in Iraq.

This is a female soldier with an M9  DUCT TAPED into a shoulder holster.

Unloaded of course, and no magazines anywhere, Naturally soldiers could not be trusted with any live ammo...

THANK GOD we did not play by those rules..

In retrospect, everyone was probably better off having this female soldier's weapon DUCT TAPED into place where it was rendered out of action.  It was probably much safer for all of us.

Lock bolt back insert piece of rebar or screwdriver thru the magwell and mash the gas tube closed. Take nail and hammer and knock FCG pins out and toss 'em or pocket 'em and toss 'em later/farther away.

Take the bolt carrier group with you. Disables and you now have a spare.

Why wouldn't you just remove the buffer and spring?
Link Posted: 5/8/2016 12:49:06 AM EDT
[#10]
Too easy:

Take it by the barrel, and slam the butt into the ground as hard as you can (like an ax). Bends the weak aluminum buffer tube so the bolt can't cycle. If you have one round in the chamber they can shoot that but then it's done.

Guy I knew in basic training did more or less that . It's insanely quick and cripplingly effective. Actually, ever since I saw that, I've seen it as the AR's biggest inherent weakness.

EDIT: I see this has been more or less covered. Well trust me, it works

Epoxy gun with a mix nozzle and 2000# 5 minute set. Pull bolt back, squirt into the receiver and lower, release bolt.  5 minutes later it's set  up and inoperable.

That'll do it.
And, a free firing pin to boot!

But, popping the rear takedown pin, breaking it open ... and then just stomping on it would probably be quicker.

Still operable until the gas key cracks the lower, just not semi-auto.

Pull the BCG and take a sledge to the remaining upper and lower. One good hit with a 8 pound sledge and they will be done.

Pull rear takedown pin and smash open upper so the front takedown lug breaks.

Bend the barrel, break off the extension from the lower receiver.  Minimal effort to pemenantly deadline it.

3 minutes isn't much time to open the safe and then disable multiple rifles.  If I'm pretty sure I'm not coming back I would open the safe,  pour lighter fluid or gasoline in and light it.  Scorched earth on the house as well as the guns.

I was going to say, jam a primer between the gas key and charging handle.

Pack the barrel full of bubblegum. Leave it loaded. Zombie that shoots it will have it blow up in his face.

I don't think taking the bcg disables it. Too prevelant, too easy to get one.

I like the smash the upper receiver idea.

Are you talking a permanent change? I'd smash or run it over at the buffer tube threads, which should be a fairly weak point. Maybe take a drill bit through the barrel, or just hacksaw it halfway and then smash it to bend it sufficiently.

If you just want to render them unusable, remove the BCGs.  If you want them to appear serviceable, either remove the firing pin or the buffer spring.

If you had to disable one or more rifles, so someone else couldn't come along and use them, what would you do?

Think walking dead, SHTF, whatever. 3 minute time limit.

Anyone who says take them all with you, fuck off for being to stupid to understand hypothetical questions.

I'm thinking lock tite the bolt in the chamber, would be the fastest and easiest.
