There's a very serious forest fire south west of town.  It's about 5 or 6km away.   I was downtown earlier and I could see the flames.

There were several smaller fires this evening within town and another major fire yesterday about 5km to my north east.

I'm thinking of bugging out.  But I will probably leave Crabby's snow shovels behind.

The main fire is about 4 miles from downtown.  But I am about ten miles from downtown.   But there are smaller fires here and there.

Never saw them growing up in Alberta, but when I lived a stint in BC my small town about an hour outside of kelowna got evacuated. Fires suck for sure, luckily no damage to the houses in the small town I was in. Prayers out for all the Fort Mac folks.

Any chance you could tell her to practice for next winter and drop her and her shovels off at the fireline?

If you can afford to leave town for a short while, it may be wise to do so. Just be sure to put all your italian super models in the trunk.

Misread the tagline. I thought it said, "Fred MacMurray dies." Which is odd, since he died in 1991.

Blame it on speed reading.

Canadian volunteer firefighter, 19, accused of setting several fires that he then helped to put out

Lawson Schalm, 19, was charged with 18 counts of arson over the weekend.

A teenage volunteer firefighter is accused of setting several fires that he then helped to fight, authorities in Alberta, Canada said Sunday.

Lawson Schalm, 19, was charged with 18 counts of arson by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a federal law enforcement agency, in the town of Mayerthorpe located about 80 miles northwest of Edmonton, CTV News reported.

The teen had been volunteering with the local fire department since he was 15 and became an eligible firefighter on the day he turned 18, according to the news channel.

Canada has had such a rough time with fires the last couple years, that they have actually allowed American firefighters in to help. Not unheard of, but not very common, especially to have Hotshot boots on the line. Prayers to the Residents, hope everyone stays safe.

Yeah, you guys are usually way late in the summer. Was there no snow pack this year or something?

I have been on fires in the Southwest before in May, and the guys from MT have taken off the fire to go home and help deal with flooding. crazy.

West of the divide we are at or over 100% of snowpack average. East of the divide, maybe 60-70%.

That's way to close, I would have bugged out already before the masses start and you get stuck in traffic.

If traffic is even an issue in your area.

Good luck.
