What are some unique (non ar) current production semi auto rifles out there? (Preferably in a rifle caliber)
Edit to add: preferably in the sub $3k range That I can think of: SCAR ACR XCR MUR MCX (yeah, it's kind of an ar) MAR AUG PS90 BREN (CZ) 805 ... What else? |
|
CMMG Mutant isn't really an AR.
Also, supposedly there's a StG 44 repro coming out. Somebody's making an FG42 as well.

ACR *could* have been a really good gun, but the execution has been pretty botched. I haven't payed too much attention in a year or 2, but the support for upgrades, barrels, and the caliber conversions have been really bad. The base gun is too heavy and front heavy too. Better with a light profile barrel trimming the weight down quite a bit, but keep the additional expense in mind. I think Remington is still guarding their improvements and not selling them. |

Thanks for the replies. Looking for something different as a post deployment rifle.
So far it's between a mcx, scar, and a bren 805. |
|
|
Why do they all have to be so fucking expensive?
Maybe I'm just used to the affordability of ARs. |

B&T APC-556
Piston driven, multiple barrel length and stock options, nice 4.4lb 2-stage trigger, hydraulic buffer to soften the recoil. Grip is questionable. About $2k. |

It is a rebranded Winchester SXAR, which is a Browning BAR. If you've ever taken one apart you'll go nuts. |

I thought the StG was advertised in the $1800 ish range. Can't remember who is doing it, but its the guys who did the Cetme L on the kits that came in last (?) year. I want one, but not bad enough to prepay nearly 2K on a gamble. |

Mini-14/Mini-30 sounds like it fits the criteria.
i know they don't get much love, but they really are solid rifles. |

I think those are like, 1 million dollars. Oh it's not that pricey. But anytime you are talking about milled components and 30-06 caliber. It's gonna cost you. I handled one at the last gun show I went to. I can't describe how awesome it was just to hold it. I can't imagine a gun that screams. "America, fuck yeah." More than an HCAR. |

Still have an 18" I'm building, not much expense there except the optics. Doing both is a bigger dent. |
