A federal judge threw out his lawsuit against Lucky Gunner, and now the Phillips family must pay its legal fees under Colorado law. Lucky Gunner was shielded from prosecution under a 2005 law that grants gun makers and sellers immunity from prosecution for crimes committed with their products. Bernie Sanders voted for the law while a member of the House, though he’s recently wavered over whether he supports it. “We don’t have that much money to pay them, and they can take our house,” Phillips told USA TODAY. “Right now we’re living in a trailer traveling and speaking around the country trying to get people to understand how egregious this law is.”
“I don’t think he had any idea of the repercussions this law would cause,” Phillips said of Sanders. “I would like Bernie Sanders to at least apologize to us for the heartache this has caused.” also this.. Sanders is also co-sponsoring a recent bill to repeal parts of the 2005 law. Sanders’ concern has been about small stores that support the hunting community, Weaver said on MSNBC Tuesday night. “He is certainly in favor of making sure anybody who’s a bad actor is punished,” said Weaver. |

The Brady Bunch found a family that was hurting and emotionally vulnerable, exploited them, turned them into victims, and are now using their victim status to exclaim how it's all the NRA's fault. I'm sorry for their loss. No one should ever, ever have to go thru that. That said; you dont sue auto manufactures when you get smashed by a veh intentionally. You dont go after Easton when someone hits you with their bat. You dont sue ammo/gun makers, sellers, etc.

They tried to enrich themselves over a tragedy. We absolutely need to combat this notion that is being pushed that firearms and ammunition are any different than any other inanimate objects that may be used in a crime. It would never cross someone's mind to sue the dealership that sold someone the car used in a hit and run. I hope they lose everything. |
