Given that I have to get approval for any plant or seed that I would like to plant in my yard, I sent a letter to the HOA requesting their approval to plant some annuals. Though I was hoping that they would say "OK", they wrote back saying that I have to list the annuals I wish them to consider. What I want to do is give them the scientific names for as many plants as I can. I'll start with common plants, but then I'd like the names of those plants that look, um, well, kinda raunchy. I think a couple thousand will keep them busy for a while. It is an automatic approval if it takes them more than 45 days to reply. I'll have some plants commonly planted here salted throughout the list so that if they disapprove outright, they will disallow the plants of many in the neighborhood. I appreciate that many would never live where they are subject to an HOA so there is no need to state that in this thread. Edit: Noxious, poisonous, and dangerous plants are forbidden by covenant as are "unsightly" plants, but I will let them try to determine what is unsightly. View Quote What if you don't plant them? Sometimes plants grow on their own. Birdshit or something carried the seeds! Maybe the seeds you plant were mislabeled! |

Hey, you signed the covenant. View Quote And the HCOA is partner to that agreement. Mind you that the agreement said nothing about corn. Only dangerous, obnoxious, poisonous and unsightly plants were disallowed. The HCOA has bylaws which they are to follow and they cannot rule by fiat. |

Lose your passive-aggressive approach.
Just give them the list. If you think the HOA Board won't see through your not-so-clever plan - you're wrong. If I had to review it I'd take my sweet time and give you a ruling in August. When you whine about the delay I'd tell you to stop whining because you started the problem with your silly 500-item list. |

I will simply use the bylaws and covenants to present my request which if they choose to reject, they will be rejecting their own policies. Maybe later I will submit the list which should they reject it, I have a plan for too. |

Just throw a few hundred kudzu seeds in the presidents yard and call it a day. Make sure to complain about his improper maintained grass and un approved plants and pretty flowers.

Look - you can name 3-4 topmost genera that will encompass 90% of the blooming annuals and perennials you are likely to have access to (e.g. 'Compositae"). Tens of thousands of flowers are part of the genera. And its highly unlikely that anyone will have a clue what you are talking about because understanding horticultural families is a PIA unless you are hardcore or educated in the field. |

Aimless-
I was vp a few years, they all know who I am and how I roll. The old board had enough and all wanted out. We went to the meeting, I was drafted back on, then pretty much appointed unanimously. It wasn't something I asked for nor solicited. My agenda has been delegate, delegate, delegate. So far it works! |
