Trump has publicly defended the NSA's domestic spying during this campaign as well. Really took him down a notch in my book.
Now the question is - what if anything has Cruz said about this issue? |

I'm actually shocked. I accidentally duped this thread.. Comments Comments share with facebook share with twitter Apple CEO Tim Cook called "chilling" and "dangerous" a recent order by a judge that forces the tech giant to create a "back door" for the FBI to unlock the cellphone data of the San Bernardino massacre gunmen. File photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Apple CEO Tim Cook on Wednesday said a court order demanding the company create a "back door" into the cellphone data of the San Bernardino, Calif., attackers was "chilling" and "dangerous." In a letter to customers, Cook expressed his opposition to the court order. "The United States government has demanded that Apple take an unprecedented step which threatens the security of our customers. We oppose this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand," Cook wrote. "Compromising the security of our personal information can ultimately put our personal safety at risk. That is why encryption has become so important to all of us. For many years, we have used encryption to protect our customers' personal data because we believe it's the only way to keep their information safe. We have even put that data out of our own reach, because we believe the contents of your iPhone are none of our business. Cook said Apple has " done everything that is both within our power and within the law" to help the FBI conduct its investigation into the San Bernardino massacre. This is the one time I'm actually for Apple. |

Does anyone here think that the FBI doesn't have proper cause to be searching this device? You have to remember that a warrant gives the government PERMISSION to do something that would otherwise be prohibited. It's not a magic judicial wand that guarantees their success. To use your house search example, if I get a warrant that allows me to search a house because I have PC to believe that there are illegal drugs there, there's not a damn thing I can do about it if they get flushed before I get there, or if they're so well hidden that I don't find them. In other words, sometimes the government loses (which is not a bad thing), and that isn't because the warrant system is flawed. My second point is this....do any of you buy this load of bullshit? Quoted: I disagree with you. They have a warrant. Searching the phone is no problem. They just can't make sense of what they can see. The court order they have issued requires Apple to create software that disables some of the phones security features (which Apple may or may not be able to do). This will enable the FBI to brute force the short key that unlocks the large key to decrypt the phone. I have no problem with the FBI hiring someone to create software that attempts to do this, but Apple should not be forced to perform services (that they may not be able to perform in the first place). Having worked around some hardware based encrypted devices, if it is implemented properly, it doesn't matter what Apple attempts to do, they will just end up bricking the phone. Encryption works.
