Not a lot of political stuff scares me, but this truly does.
RIP Scalia, America |

The Senate will also have to stay in session until late January 2017 to prevent a recess appointment by the racist muslim in the White House.

In case anyone is wondering, now is the time to email, write and call your senators and tell them that if they allow this administration to take over the SC you will campaign against them during their next election.
And of might be time to reconsidering voting for a "recent conservative convert" instead of a conservative, but I doubt anyone is willing to do that. Rip judge. Contact your fucking senators. |

So are we gonna get Valery Jarret or Kamala Harris as a replacement? Enter Mr. Justice Holder. That would actually be the best case scenario if you're hoping for the senate to obstruct and delay. They hate his lying ass. |

I don't feel like reading through 8 pages.
CNN says Scalia said he didn't feel well before going to bed. OP's article says he didn't. ? |

Trump needs to nominate Cruz to SCOTUS View Quote Jeezus grow up. Ain't gonna happen. If Trump gets the nomination and if he wins in the general, he's criticized Cruz far too vigorously to ever nominate him. And besides that, the GOP establishment senators hate his guts and would never confirm him. You might as well imagine Superman becoming President and nominating Batman. No, you need to ask yourself just who Trump would nominate, and Cruz ain't on the menu. |

For you Cruzers, Trump said yesterday that he would appoint SCOTUS justices like Thomas and Scalia.

Now, more than ever, we need to elect Senator Cruz to the Presidency. Obama is going to replace Scalia with the most left leaning social activist Supreme Court jurist he can find and we cannot expect the establishment Republicans to do anything but what they always do: support Obama. Trump doesn't even know the difference amongst the Supreme Court Judges. View Quote If Trump and Cruz could kiss and make up, and the senate could delay long enough, I'd rather see Justice Cruz even if that means President Trump. |

If Obama is able to appoint a successor, it will almost guarantee an R win in November.
I'm guessing he's going to be asked (forced) to roll the dice and to wait and hope a D wins in November, so that they can appoint a liberal justice. A drawn out battle over the next appointee in between now and November would galvanize R voters. Big election. |

I posted this in the 'Cost per Vote' thread a bit back about the political leanings of the US Supreme Court will be for the next TWO DECADES!!!.......wish it wasn't as soon as it turns out to be....
Not just Scalia (very conservative, turns 80 this year)....but Bader-Ginsberg (liberal, 83)....Anthony Kennedy (moderate, 80).....and Stephen Breyer ( liberal but not as much as Ginsberg..78) are all likely retirees in the near future... That means 4 potential appointees in 4 years, and almost certainly within 8 years. There could be more due to other issues (health related). Even Trump***** (especially if he has a Republican Senate) would likely appoint more conservatives than Sanders or Clinton would. The political leanings of the US Supreme Court WILL change in the near future. Sanders/Clinton get in, they will change one conservative vote and one moderate vote to two liberal votes...(In addition to two direct liberal replacements). Changing the court from 4(lib) -1 - 4(cons) to 6(lib) - 3(cons). Trump/Rubio/Cruz get in, they'll replace two liberal votes and one moderate vote with conservatives (in addition to a direct conservative replacement) . Changing the court 4 - 1 - 4 to 2 - 7. That's a HUGE difference. The next time the ages of several justices fall into the 80s is 16 years from now....that's a awful long time for us to be looking at Justice Barack Obama (or maybe Michelle Obama), Justice Eric Holder (or Justice Loretta Lynch in payment for not going after Hillary) writing the Majority Opinion.... Eta: *****Trump may or may not be a true conservative...but he's going to have to work with a Republican controlled Senate, so I think his picks will at least tend towards more conservative.... This is an excellent time to start contacting your Senators. It would be awesome if they were IMMEDIATELY deluged with calls and emails from constituents telling them NOT to confirm any of Obama's nominees.
