Now don't get me wrong, 35% is clearly enough to lead the pack, but it means that there's still 65% of "Not Trump" which could conceivably coalesce around someone like Cruz and threaten Donald's last chance at the position he's coveted since his youth. The "Not Trump" 65% is being split 5 ways, and soon it'll be split 4 ways, then 3 ways, and that's when Donald will start to really feel the heat. His record and his demeanor mean that he can't appeal to more voters than the 35% he's already got. He's got to knock out the credible competition now before the field narrows further. Hence the desperation to hurt Cruz, the strongest of the "Not Trump" contenders. |
