Local one was ok to start with. Then after a few years it went to crap and closed.

Decent, but not real good.
Got a few $5.00 off cards from a friend whose kid works there. Right now they have pulled pork sliders for $1.00ea. With the card that's 5 free sliders. |

It's OK, but kinda expensive for average chain food. If there is a good independent BBQ pit nearby, it would be crazy to eat at Dickey's.
Not a fan. Even with kids eating free on Sunday it wasn't worth it. |

It would have to come in well below the independent places to be worthwhile. I forgot, we have another chain in KC that somehow stays open despite its shittiness: Bandana's. |

Went in one here once. Very little meat and huge side orders. I won't go back.

One opened here. Lasted about 6 months. I ate there once to try it and tossed half of my food in the trash on the way out.

I got food poisoning there. So did a coworker and two people from another agency. All on the same day.
So no. |

You didn't name one good BBQ place. Well, I haven't had "Broeback's". LC's, Joe's KC, Slap's, Smokin' Guns, Q39... Those are the good spots. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Jack Stack, Authur Bryants, Broebacks, Gates. And you want to go to Dickey's? Had Dickey's before, Famous Dave is A LOT better. ymmv. You didn't name one good BBQ place. Well, I haven't had "Broeback's". LC's, Joe's KC, Slap's, Smokin' Guns, Q39... Those are the good spots. Broebacks is at 106th and Roe. Friday night and Sat. have smoked baked potato's, absolute killers. Heard of BB's, and had Joe's KC, haven't heard of Smokin' Guns or Q39. Need to look them up next time in KC area. |

we have one up here in Minot
as somebody who had good BBQ when I was stationed in Abilene, TX its mediocre granted here in Minot its the only BBQ you're going to get so beggars can't be choosers |

The first 2 posts got it, Dave's is better and Dickeys is fast food BBQ. I like it just know what to expect.
They are the McDonald's of BBQ
We call them Shittys BBQ. You can imagine why |
Google "Dickey's BBQ poisoning" to read about a couple of problems they had in 2014. Not likely to happen again but still a bit discouraging when considering a meal there.
The ones down here are great IMHO. The ones you guys have must not know how to make BBQ.
They're not bad but nothing I would go out of my way to get.
Pretty much the Mickie Ds of barbecue, not so bad you'd turn it down if hungry, but not as good as something you could whip up yourself. Typical quick lunch fare.
Not bad for the price, I like it. Like someone else said, fast-food BBQ.
Just be careful about their sweet tea.... http://www.good4utah.com/news/local-wasatch-front-/woman-in-critical-condition-after-poisoning-at-restaurant |

I've seen several of these national chain BBQ joints around, both outside Detroit and Kansas City. Living in KC, obviously there is no shortage of quality hole-in-the wall BBQ spots. Is Dickey's worth trying? Gotta be better than Famous Dave's, right? View Quote It's probably the worst BBQ I've had in Kansas City. I think they cook it in an oven....at least that's what it tastes like. |
It's meh to fair. There are plenty of other better choices around, so I never eat there. Maybe once in a blue moon.
Shane's Rib Shack is much better for chain barbecue. |
Substandard.
I suppose it would be good if you were way up north or something, but in any area that does bbq, it would be a waste of time and money. |
Don't drink their sweet tea. Link
meh. ok if your hungry and in a pinch, but not worth going if they're is anything better in a 50 mile radius.

We got one in my home town a year or two ago. While I have never been there, many of my friends have. So I asked what they thought of it and every last one said it was just ok, if they wanted good BBQ they would do it themselves!
So I asked why they go there on occasion, the response from most was my work paid for it! |
WE don't have good BBQ here so I eat there a good bit when I have to have something besides a burger or taco hell.
Its good for that but I have had classic Texas BBQ and it doesn't compare. Its way better than burgers and Subway etc. But nowhere near "great" Especially if you live in KC. |
Dickies probably won't kill you. If you like your food to have flavor, eat somewhere else.
Famous Daves > Dickies
We don't have any good BBQ around here so it is pretty much those two chains regionally and a Local chain ( Longhorn ) that pretty much sucks too . Dickies is OK but way too expensive and I think the store they opened here is going under pretty soon. PP sandwich , two little sides and a drink are $12 and that is the cheapest menu item + piss poor customer service. |
only meat there I can choke down is the brisket.
sides suck ass. they used to have free dill pickles which were the best thing in the place. they pulled em |

View Quote There are a few here in Michigan and not one of them can be considered "good". The one in Rochester was "Ok" when it first opened, but that's about high as I'd rate it. |

I wouldn't say taco bell quality, but it is a chain. You're getting basic bbq, kind of like an Anderson lower.
Maybe our's in Texas is better because it's still owned by the Dickie's family and they live in the Dallas area. I actually met one of the grandson's at a party. So there's a pretty good chance if they find a shitty one, the franchise owner hears about it. |
