Christie did a good job tearing down Rubio tonight.

This puzzles me.  I thought they were both playing for the same team, the Vichy Republicans.

So who benefits from this?

Given the new rule (the nominee must have 50% of the delegates form 8 states by the time of the convention), I'm going to say Trump does, with Cruz as a possible secondary beneficiary.

I was a Trump supporter, but have been on the fence for the past month or so as he started making some statements that I thought were blunders (can make a deal with Pelosi/Schumer, etc).  Now I'm seeing CNN doing human interest stories on Trump (how did you feel when your brother died, tell us about your mother, etc).  CNN is on at work 24x7 (no sound), and I'm here for 12 hour shifts.  I can't exactly put my finger on it, but they seem far less hostile to Trump lately than they used to be.  I'm smelling a rat that made a deal, and I don't like it.

Has anyone else noticed these things, or detected a change in the media's or Vichy Republican's tone towards Trump?

And before you ask, the question isn't "Am I paranoid?"  When it comes to those who are scrambling after political power the question is "Am I paranoid enough?"

There's only one conservative candidate left: Cruz. Reagan won the nom 18 years after he declared himself a born-again conservative. That's a track record sufficient to dispel my concerns about supporting a former liberal democrat for office. Trump declared himself a conservative 18 minutes ago. That dog won't hunt. Hillary supporter, AWB supporter, daughter fucker (allegedly) etc. He regularly espouses fascist views "we'll make [insert business here] do X, Y, or Z!!". The faster we get to Trump vs non-Trump in this race, the better. Trump vs Cruz would be preferable. Rubio is a McCain-loving RINO.

Trump bitchslapped the fuck out of Fox News.  I have a feeling the rest of the media figured it out.

The two front runners are running on the most hard-line Right platforms ever seen, and all ARFCom can do is bitch about it.

Some here just don't want to win. They feel guilty if they win. The thought of it scares them. They are comfortable with being the abused victim.

lol, it matters as much how you vote for Pres in PA as it does how I vote here in WA. Either state would elect Osama Mao bin Hitler if they had a little "D" after their name. As a result, no one cares how either of us are voting. We might as well put mickey mouse on the ballot. They are D states and they will be D states for decades. Now, if you lived in a battleground state, then people might care...

But seriously, I'll be voting for Cruz in the primary and will see what happens from there, and will vote R in the general election.

Unless some manner of fuckery ensues like iYeb! being rammed through at the convention, then it's Cthulhu all the way.

How exactly did he bitchslap the fuck out of Fox News? By being a whiny little bitch about having to talk to Megyn Kelly?

By not going and not so subtly saying that he makes the rules not them. Yeah he took a hit in the poles but nothing too drastic. I am not a Trump fanboy, but that is pretty much what the result was....

The perceptions of the GD echo-chamber do not always reflect either reality or the perceptions of the broader electorate.

He gained in the polls after that.

And yes -- he told the media that they either play by his rules or he won't work with them.

Potentially all of us. Rubio reminds me of another slick talking junior senator that says a lot of words backed up by nothing other than being a professional observer. Rubio couldn't carry Ted Cruz's underwear.

FIFY

This, they are scared that he will pull down their pants and go in dry while on live TV and make them look like the little bitches they are.

Don't want to lose faces in front of the audience and make them start questioning their authority

I wouldn't just blindly vote R no matter who the nominee is. It could be Rubio.

No pro amnesty candidate from either party will get my vote. I will vote for any R nominee in the general that will not support amnesty, which narrows it down to the only 2 people with a shot at the nomination right now anyway.

No kidding that "Potentially all of us" benefit from this.  Do the Vichy Republicans care about us, the BoR, the Constitution, the middle class, the rule of law, or any of the other things that made this country great?

Then "we" aren't who I'm asking about.  Who else benefits from this?

Here's my thoughts on Christie's prison-rape of Rubio:

I think they are competing for the same donors.

Christie knows he won't get either Cruz's backers or Trump's supporters... But he and Rubio (and Kasich and Jeb) were all competing for the same type of donors. Rubio pulled ahead of Christie because of his Iowa win... If Rubio isn't taken down immediately, Christie will lose pretty much all funding from this point forward.

Cruz and Trump may pull more votes, but Rubio is the more immediate threat to the survival of Christie's campaign. As a result, Christie popped a viagra, unzipped his fly and let Rubio have it. Rubio was completely unprepared and has always sucked at unrehearsed confrontation anyway.

I hate Christie... But damn, that was amazing to watch.

That makes sense.

Damn it, I hate the fact that my first response is to doublethink anything on the news, or relating to politics.  I mean it's a good reaction, but it's not always right.

So much that he lost Iowa because he skipped the debate.  All about the gains, brah.

I doubt he lost iowa because he skipped the debate.  And btw, Iowa almost never accurately predicts the candidate...
