New ones are loaded with black powder. Instant Tactical Smoke Screen.
ATF regulation is coming next... same as smoke grenades. |

I shoot the +p variant and my hands never look like that. Only time my hands even really get dirty shooting them is when I load like 20-30 mags and even then not to the extent yours are.

But not that kind of nasty. Was this a range rental gun? Maybe it started out filthy, and ended up on your hands. |

It's not the ammunition, is it possible the pistol is unlocking early?

Something fucky with the gun.
+1 on unlocking early. Perfection. |

View Quote hmm, nothing felt different and it functioned 100%. the G43 went back to Glock when i first got it because heavier rounds would nose dive. since i got it back i've shot probably 2000 rounds without a hiccup until these HSTs |

HST is the finest ammunition known to mankind. Something is wrong with you.

I've shot probably 1000 rounds of 147gr +P and 180gr .40 HST in my life but have never seen anything like this. These were 147gr standard pressure HSTs from a G43 View Quote Could be a combination of the size of your dick beaters and the tiny barreled G43 having the muzzle just that much closer to your hands. Probably won't happen with a G35. Look at the lens of a weapon mounted flashlight that is near (even if it doesn't overhang) the muzzle. All kinds of shit on it after a string of fire. ETA - Look at the distance the G43 ejection port is from your hands as compared to a G19 or G17 port. Probably closer. |

Sounds like you need to go back and shoot it again with other ammo to compare results to see if something has changed in the gun over time. Worn out spring?
|
|
High moisture in the range? Makes GSR stick to stuff(ur hand) more? Sweaty hands?

Powder is coated in graphite to make it free flowing. Most powders are slightly oxygen deficient and as such, graphite doesn't burn until it exits the bore and hits air..even then, only a tiny bit burns to create muzzle flash. If the muzzle pressure isn't high enough or a low flash load is used, graphite can coat the firearm.
There is also lead from the primer. Lead styphanate. ( lead trinitroresorcinol ) |
|
Looks like it was the ammo. I ran 100 rounds of GECO 124gr and 100 rounds of Magtech 124gr through the G43 yesterday. Powder residue on my hand was about 1/4 what it was with the HSTs and there was practically none on my support hand (just like with the 147gr HST +P I usually use) . I'll post pics after work...

Humblebrag thread. OP shoots expensive carry ammo like it's range ammo
I know I know train how you intend to fight. I can only afford to train with my plated bullet reloads, loaded to simulate my carry ammo. |

The only HST ammo I've fired is 230 gr +P. I've never experienced that.

I told you it is the ammo. Specifically, the graphite coating on the propellant which is depositing instead of flashing when it hits oxygen. That is the cause of most muzzle flash if the muzzle pressure is high enough and there aren't any flash inhibitors.
Graphite is used to coat the granules to prevent caking (propellants are soft and sticky) plus it is electrically conductive, preventing static buildup. Some propellants have more than others. For example, Trail Boss is nearly devoid of it and looks greenish. Varget is another lightly coated extruded propellant. |

Is your Glock direct impingement or piston driven? It might be that there's a leak in the gas tube somewhere. Check the bold carrier too. Especially the gas key. Make sure that fucker is staked.
Let me know if this fixes your problem. |

Did you lube your glock with anything labeled as a "dry film" lubricant or graphite?

Do you have the lot number? I bought a few boxes from Bone Frog, but I haven't shot any yet. I'll be using a Glock 17. The lot number on my boxes is U51G301.
