"As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right.

This is how a President and Constitutional expert speaks of the 2nd (after Heller anyway)

How does constrain equal infringe?

I've come to this realization. I think Trump is clown shoes, but he's the one we have to get behind to make sure Hillary doesn't get elected. For once, the Dems are divided and vulnerable. If the conservatives can get over themselves and rally around one candidate, we can keep the Dems out of the White House.

This.

Somehow, a lot of people are gonna have to get off their high fucking horse and face some reality.

I think that Cruz MIGHT be better than Trump, but Trump has more support because he is not a "politician".

And he is the only one that can beat the Hilldog, for the same reason.

Trump seems to have the fire and ambition to turn this country around, and maybe save us from the trainwreck/implosion

that the current administration has set up for us.

Maybe - it might be too late already.

The real mission with this election is to beat Hillary.

Your argument isn't a new one.  Every four years, people here insist that we ignore the RINO's history of not supporting the 2nd, because he is "electable."

Unfortunately, it never works out.

Trump isn't the "real deal." There is no real deal. Even gods among men like Reagan are basic bitches from an ideologically pure conservative perspective, because the system isn't constructed to incentivize anyone save hypocrites.

But he can preserve the weaksauce conservative mainstream by keeping democracy legitimate - an institution whose approval rating has been on a steady decline since FDR. True, he's the only Republican in the primaries who can fight Bernie on an even footing; but consider a world where Hillary wins.

What then for the next Republican candidate? Further Dole clones will crash and burn. Next round will be a more extreme ethno-national-populist candidate riding a wave of even angrier voters, with a bigger mandate for bully pulpit, fuck-the-bureaucracy operations.

Trump is the moderate the establishment needs to embrace so that they can defuse the proles with a token representative before returning to business as normal 4 or 8 years later. He's the MLK to a future Black Panther group.

I just doubt the establishment can swallow their pride long enough to preserve themselves. "Iterated games are a myth" is a famous GOP propaganda meme, and they've begun to drink their own koolaid.

Meant to say appeals to independents

We were told that McCain and Romney were "presidential and electable because they could reach across the aisle"

Trump appeals to the pissed off silent majority in this country because he says all the right things about deporting illegals, end the bullshit Political Correctness culture, stop being a pussy, etc.

"Not long after President Obama announced that he was considering taking executive action to tighten gun control laws, Donald Trump decried the idea, saying he didn't like the possibility of altering the Second Amendment.

"I don't like it," Trump told "Face the Nation" moderator John Dickerson in an interview to air Sunday on CBS. "I don't like anything having to do with changing our Second Amendment. We have plenty of rules and regulations."

The president, who renewed his push for gun control legislation after last month's deadly attack in San Bernardino, California, plans to meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday to discuss options for strengthening firearm regulations.

-snip-

"All they want to do is blame the guns, and it's not the gun that pulls the trigger, so I don't like it," Trump added. "I don't like what he is doing."  "

I don't think pardons can be revoked.  Although he can't pardon himself, so a prosecution for high treason against Obungo would be a winner.

I have some liberal acquaintances that are truly horrified  by Trump because he is peeling some of the moderate leftists toward him. They are all Bernie lackey's, they don't realize Bernie is just for show to make the Dems seem fair and diverse. He is nothing more than a liberal ornament to Hillary's bandwagon and will fall into VP roll at some point.

IMO, that is a 60% true statement.  The missing 40% is the GOPe doesn't want people to hear what Cruz has to say either.

I think the 40% is the reason there have been 10 candidates on the Big Kids debate stage so far, even though at least 4 never had a prayer after the first debate.

I see this thread has turned into an anti-Trump circle jerk by the same old crowd

Nothng ruins a thread like substance and facts.
It is indeed a fact that you do your best to ruin Trump threads...

..with facts and substance.

I find it repulsive that people whine about a thread that celebrates a politician being "ruined."

If people here want to keep debating professional shills that's their choice, but it's not going to change their opinion, because they are getting paid to undermine Trump's campaign.

Who here, specifically, are you claiming is "getting paid" to undermine Trump's campaign?

LOL what facts and substance?  All you do is whine and cry and nothing changes that Trump is a winner and it shows.

You havn't changed anyone's minds, and have only cemented your self as being pedantic.

If nothing else I suppose it will be fun to look back and laugh about.

I read somewhere that Yeb, Rubio and Fiorina are not gun owners. The other GOP contenders own guns.

In an interview Fiorina stated she had a couple guns.

B E A T  H I L L A R Y. Nothing---nothing---else matters. Not who beats her. Not the strategy that does it. Not whether I love the person who does it, or hate them.

Get behind this and focus on it, people. Or get ready for a president you want even less than Obama.

This is what I don't get about Trump supporters....

Trump said he was against Obama's plan to issue Executive Orders on guns.  What is so groundbreaking our earth-shattering about this?

With the possible exception of Christie, I'm certain that every other candidate has the exact same position when it comes to EO's and guns...let alone 90% of the GOPe that you despise so much.

This is news because you need it to validate your support of him.  There are plenty of candidates that you KNOW are against this plan to issue EOs.  Not because of interviews, but because of their principled stances taken in the past when it comes to the 2A

Kasich actually voted for a number of gun bans as a congressman.

Right.  That was when Trump was supporting them as well.  No.  that was actually before Trump's opposition to 2A

That's a rather mild statement by Trump, actually.

When Trump wins the nomination, what will you guys do then?

You're running out of time with your ridiculous shtick in EVERY... FUCKING... TRUMP THREAD.

I'll laugh when he still loses the general election.

Those that love him are outnumbered by those who hate him.

And every democrat is going to vote democrat whether it's Hillary, Sanders, or a cheeseburger with a crudely torn D into the bun.

Now if the Trump people were smart enough to tap Cruz when the Don gets the nomination, Trump gets my vote with excitement.

Otherwise, he just gets my vote so I can vote against true evil.
