My prediction, Hamilton wins it again this year, but has to beat Vettel not Rosburg for it.
I really want to see Ferrari get another WC but I don't think they'll be able to this year. |
|
Is it true that Ferrari is providing the last 2016 spec power unit to haas, because haas, as a new team has the right to make more testing this year, and that Ferrari is gonna benefit from it ?
If that is true, it's a great idea |

What F1 needs is 12 cyl. normally aspirated 20,000 RPM engine only car unlimited fuel and in race refueling with run the tires you want.

View Quote Mercedes will win both championships again. The only thing that will be up in the air is whether it will be Hamilton or Rosberg winning the DC. Mercedes was ahead in horsepower to start with and they aren't going to sit on their hands over the winter. |

I haven't heard much crash report data yet, or if a company is behind, but: 1) I haven't been paying as much attention the last month 2) It's probably too early to hear the excuses from a company delaying their unveiling. |

A few years ago, I would have never said this, but I hope Vettel can rack even more wins this season (since Kimi doesn't seem up to the task). I hope the new car with even more James Allison input will help out the Iceman, though. I'd love to see Jenson win one out of the blue, however completely impossible that seems.

In on 1. This is gonna be the Scuderia's year! Here's hoping--the trophy belongs back in Vettel's house, and in Marinello. I'm not a Vettel hater, but if the trophy goes back to Big Red I hope Kimi brings it. |

I admit it would be neat to see Kimi have a great year, but judging by his last few...I don't see it happening.

Quoted: Yep. I bitched about the engines but the technology behind them is cool. Think about it... they are pretty much outputting the same power as the NA V8s, but doing it with roughly 1/3 of the fuel over race distance. Looking forward to see what Haas can do. Not confident, but it should still be interesting.
Also looking forward to seeing McLaren have at least a mid-pack season. When this last season started I knew it was going to be a hard struggle for them, but I didn't realize how bad it was going to be. I even made a prediction that mid-next season they'll start to climb up and maybe even win a race. I'm going to stick to that, but I'm willing to accept the possibility that I'm wrong, especially given their performance last season. There were some glimmers of hope! Only to be squashed down by ridiculous penalties and exploding engines. I think Vettel and Ferrari have a serious shot at the title this year, especially given their performance last season. They seem to have stumbled on a package that works well for them and that agrees with Vettel's driving style. Should be a good season. |

Unless Ferarri gets their head out of their asses, I don't see a manufacturers championship or a drivers championship. They showed small flashes of brilliance, but not enough to be a serious threat. Mercedes seemed to be their own worst enemies. Nico will still fold when Lewis pushes him, and Lewis knows it.
My prediction... Mercedes manufacturer championship Hamilton driver championship Ferarri second Williams third |

Does anyone think Nico will be able to keep the momentum, or will he crack up again?

Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren to conduct Pirelli wet-weather tyres test January 25th and 26th at the Paul Ricard circuit.
Newey getting pissy about engines. "If you take the engines built by Mercedes or Ferrari, when they supply those engines to their customer teams, the customers don’t get the same engine – not in the software anyway,” said Newey. "The software becomes very important now.” "So we are in this position where Mercedes have a very good, very powerful engine. Their customer teams don’t get the same specifications. So it is difficult for their customer teams to beat the Mercedes team.” Newey believes the rules could be changed to make F1 more competitive. "The actual physical engine has to be the same, the ones supplied to the customer teams,” he said. "But it’s not just the physical hardware, it’s also the petrol and the software.” "So the first thing you can do is to change the regulations so that customer teams have the same software and the same fuel, if they wish to, as the works team.” View Quote IMO if you want to but the "A-apec" engine you need to at least pay "A-Spec" money for it and probably more. |

And Pirelli throws a wrench at the proposed 2017 changes saying if you increase downforce by 25-60%, the tires can't cope with the increased cornering speeds we'll have to make the tires stiffer and mandate much higher pressures which will decrease grip.
A Pirelli spokesman said: "With the new tyre sizes proposed for 2017, we think the load capacity of a tyre built to the current construction would increase by about 10% Ferrari says if Bernie want's cheap (10m euros vs the current 19-23m Euros a season) engines than the commercial rights holder should pay for it "If you go to Mercedes and you tell them 'please give us a group of engineers to develop in a parallel mode a different engine, different to that of Mercedes that is compliant with the F1 rules and that costs a certain amount' then I think FOM should cover that amount of money," said Marchionne during Ferrari's Christmas media briefing Engine manufacturers have been asked to reduce customer engine costs, but Marchionne said it was "inappropriate" to ask them to spend money developing a new engine formula and then dictate how much they charge irrespective of the business model. "Ferrari spends a lot of money in F1 and this has a great impact on the brands and development on a lot of our commercial activities that do not have a lot to do with F1," he said. "It costs a lot of money. "This is also expensive for Mercedes. It seems the only winner is Bernie. |

Android phone users.
Want to get the official Formula 1 app, but don't want to use your own money to pay for it? I have a solution: Download the Google Opinion Rewards App to your phone. Every so often, at least once a week, the app will ask you to take a survey. They survey rewards you with Google Play Store credit. It may be as little as 10 cents at a time but it adds up. This credit can be used to purchase the F1 app. Neat, eh? I didn't pay (with my own money) fir the app the last couple of years! I'm sorry I didn't post this sooner. Also, if you enjoy WEC races, the credit can be used to watch WEC race streams on the WEC app, which can also be viewed on your desktop. (The link above is not a referral link, I don't gain anything from the posted link) |

Magnussen in talks with Manor AND Renault
BBC's Andrew Benson churning the rumor mill that Magnussen could be at Renault I would love to see Kevin back in F1. It'd be cool to see him mix it up with Verstappen and Sainz. |
