Cousin's husband fell on ice this afternoon and hit his head hard. Went ahead to the show they were going to and by the end of it he was having memory issues and confusion. He puked twice and couldn't answer a bunch of questions accurately. Called ambulance and took him to the hospital. In emergency surgery now for brain bleeds on left and right frontal lobes but docs don't know how it will go or what affects the injury will have. His name is Nic and if you are so inclined, prayers would be appreciated.
UPDATE: Nic is out of surgery. The neurosurgeon said there was a heavy bleed in the front left lobe and small bleeds on the right side but he didn't do anything about those. He had to remove some of the left front parts of the brain that control speech and personality. He did not know how much it would affect him or if it would at all. He is in ICU now and they will do more tests in the morning and monitor pressure and the bleeds on the right side. He was pretty confident he will wake up but didn't know how much it will affect him. He said he will probably have to have some physical and speech therapy but couldn't say to what extent. Thanks for the prayers and will update if anything changes. For those who asked, he does not know the Lord nor does my cousin. They both know about Him and his love and grace but neither have a personal relationship with Christ. Maybe God can use this to wake both of them up but time will tell. Continued prayers for salvation would be most appropriate and appreciated! UPDATE#2: Nic is in a coma now. Doc talked to my cousin this morning and said he may or may not wake up but if he does, he won't be the same. Pressures in his brain aren't any better but not really worse either. Only thing he responds is pain stimuli. Looks like a long haul ahead so prayers for wisdom would be good too. Thanks again. FINAL UPDATE: Nic was on life support most, if not all, of the time he was in a coma. The blood finally cleared away and the docs could see it better in a CT scan. There was more damage than they originally thought. He wasn't improving, only deteriorating. He was on dialysis and it wasn't working either due to high pressure increases in the brain. They took him off life support today and he passed away quickly and quietly this afternoon. Than you for the prayers. Now I ask that you would remember my cousin Sonya tonight. This is the second husband she has lost. The first committed suicide right in front of her. Please pray for peace and that God will comfort her now and in the months ahead. Thanks |

Damn, so sorry to hear OP, I was hoping it was going to get better, but the brain is extremely fragile from what I am learning from my own trials with it..and the docs really only have scratched the surface of being able to even understand it let alone fix it....RIP..prayers for all of you OP...

Sorry for your loss. So sad.
Every day is a gift, don't take any for granted. |

Man this is terrible. Prayers sent.
Just shows you that everyday is precious and something as simple as slipping on ice can cut your life short. |
