I know it's going to be great from everything I've read but the opening scenes throw you off a little due to featuring Peter(Livingston) and Ross(Schwimmer).

You will dig it. Doesn't really get good until the second episode. Day of Days.
It's an absolute classic production. I think highschool kids should be required to view it in its entirety. |
Im envious. Wish I could experience BoB again for the first time.
The opening scenes throw people off? I didn't that experience that.
I watched it for the first time last September. Outstanding series.
I watched the entire series years ago when it was first out. It's outstanding.
One of the best things on TV, ever.
Its in my annual viewing list, usually sometime around memorial day. |
It's a journey I take once every 2 years or so. Lonesome Dove as well.
Personally, I think Schwimmer did a pretty decent job in it. |
The couple of episodes that cover The Battle of the Bulge are my favorite.

The way the vets described and respected Winters is mind blowing:
"He was a soldiers soldier." "I don't know how he survived.........but he did." Great series and I enjoyed listening to the vets even more. |

I almost think it's worth watching The Pacific first, as you will probably be disappointed watching it after BoB. It's a good series, it just didn't live up to the standards BoB set. |

In a way, I wish it covered more of the Revolution, but it was still VERY good covering everything from the POV of John Adams. I liked the scene where he's in London and he has audience with the king. You could see the king almost crying. He wasn't a happy camper. I liked how they made it all odd to all involved. |

Watch "The PAcific" after I planned to. I almost think it's worth watching The Pacific first, as you will probably be disappointed watching it after BoB. It's a good series, it just didn't live up to the standards BoB set. That's my thoughts. I know a lot of people disagree but to me it was a good watch but didn't stand up st all to Band of Brothers. Wish I had seen the Pacific first. |

I've watched the complete series no less than 7 times. Usually on a weekend with nothing to do.
Do watch The Pacific. It's not bad, but it's not close to BoB.
There are good episodes, but there are others which you could skip. BoB doesn't have a bad episode in the entire series. Once you've seen Pacific, watch BoB again and see the scenes with the knowledge of what's to come. |

I think Swimmer was perfect for the role.
It's not easy playing someone that unlikable, which I really don't think He is personally. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves for that performance. |

View Quote Agreed, was just caught off guard to see comedic actors right out of the gate. The longer I watcher the more dislike I had for the character. His mannerisms actually fit the role well. |

I'd like to see something like this set on the Western Front in WWI, but, like "The Pacific," I'm not sure how well that war lends itself to this type of storytelling.
In a similar vein to BoB, a series about the Ox and Bucks would be pretty damn cool, especially since they were part of the BEF in 1940 The attack on Pegasus Bridge would be awesome to see in and of itself. But they were in many of the same operations as the the 101st, so maybe there's be too much overlap. |

Haven't seen B.O.B. either. Is it more of a military/action or drama series?

NCCobra, Just watch it!

I don't own a large collection of DVD's, but Band of Brother I do have. Outstanding series. Should be required viewing for all American high schoolers.
I liked the Pacific, though it tends to make the Americans look less noble than BoB. At least that is what I took from it. One scene I recall from The Pacific was when to of the fellows were chatting on a medical ship, then the camera (and CGI) pulls away from them until you can see all the ships in the battle group from a distance. The CGI was flawless on my HD TV and let you get the feel of how it must have looked. The scale of the hardware was insane. |

My favorite parts in all of BoB were actually the interview pieces they injected. The actual veterans being portrayed in the film. Old men, like you'd see on the street, now framed in context of what they'd been through.
Winters was obviously a fellow in full control of what he emotionally exposes to the world, but to see him tear up after telling the story of when one of his men apologized for getting wounded was one event in his telling where some water washed over the huge dam he tended his adult life. Tears in his eyes when he asks: "How beautiful is that?" |
