I don't think I know anyone who doesn't own one.
I only wear one in public when I'm knocking over a gas station though. |
If the only people you see wearing hoodies are "trash", then you probably need to move.
I have a closet full of them. Some for working in, some for the gym, camo for hunting, some just to wear when it's cool. Most are UA or Carhartt. |

lol I wear one to work nearly every day in the fall and winter. But your in IT so thats standard ware.. Well yeah, but still. Hoodie + baseball hat = half the reason I stay in SW engineering. |

I wear them all of the time in the fall/winter. I have around 8 or more. All Carhart. Some light weight zip up and some heavy weight pull overs. I work outside so they're nice to wear.
a have a couple of sweatshirts, but i was an athlete and we're weird like that.
I have several. The question is are you trying to look like getto trash? I have no problems wearing a sweatshirt when sweatshirts are appropriate. Going around hood up all the time so the security cameras can not see your face is getto.
FWIW I occasionally wear them as winter lounge attire - and occasionally use them in a deer stand. I probably would consider wearing them while exercising as a disposable layer - but most of the time I have better options.. |
You mean a hooded sweatshirt ?
I've had them before they were called "hoodies" Hipsters...and thugs... Now gtfo my lawn. |

View Quote Yup. The heavyweight Carhartt is all I wear. I prefer the 1/4 zip one that opens at the top. Doesn't feel as tight around the neck but still a pullover. I'm not a fan of full zipper for some reason. |

I have tons of hoodies. I am a verifiable piece of shit though.

I have several hoodies. I wear one at the office a lot because it gets stupid cold in there. I wear them at home and for various work and stuff. I usually wear a regular coat/jacket when I go out somewhere.

Stepson wears one indoors, hood up. Yes he wants to look like criminal white trash.

ETA DK-Prof has told me in the past that use of that meme is not a CoC violation. Has that changed or is this just Site Staff disagreeing? |
Have a couple. NASCAR sweatshirts. #17 Used to wear them to the race here in March before it left. Now I wear them mostly around the house in the winter time.

Mine are all custom:
1-506th Hoodie from Korea Finnish Sniper's Guild Hoodie Competition Dynamics Sniper Adventure Challenge Hoodie I rarely wear them. |

Op is from Texas.
In Texas they wear snakeskin cowboy boots and wranglers to formal events, but apparently hooded sweatshirts are "trashy" to them Speed |
the hoodie is the essential grey man clothing article.
and its a piece of clothing worn by a person who acts good or bad. the hoodie does not make him or her act in that way because guns don't kill people, hoodies do |
I have 7 all yellow since that's what colors the instructors wear here. I don't know the manufacturer.
Criminals use guns for bad things, best not to own of them either. |
I probably have 5 or 6. Under armor for pull overs & TheNorthFace for the zip ups for the most part.
It's not the hoodie, it's everything else you're wearing that makes the hoodie part of your scum-uniform.

Is the hoodie a symbol of lowlifes or can respectable people wear them? Most of the time I see them, they're being worn by trash. If you own one, what brand is it? Does it serve any purpose other than giving you extra pockets? View Quote Several. Mostly military moto gear like USNA and West Point crested. They are warm in winter and keep snow and rain off the back of your neck when working outside. This hooded sweatshirt=thug thing is a new thing, IMHO. |

OP doesn't need a hood to keep his head warm in the cold because the fedora and neckbeard do a fine job. Who cares about functionality and comfort, right?

Yes, they are comfortable. I couldn't give two shits about what other people think of them. Wasn't aware there was such a negative stigma on them.
I have a couple I wear when it's about 30° out and I don't want to wear a flannel or jacket.

Yeah, but it pretty damn nice-looking and sports my daughter's soccer club and jersey number.
Don't know if that's "trashy" or not, but there you have it. |

I'm truly sorry for you That said, in the lush, green, land of milk and honey called the north, wintertime temps will dip far below the 50F mark, making a hoodie quite a common piece of clothing. I love fleece hoodies and have probably a half dozen or so in the closet right now. I don't really do heavy coats, at least here in DFW... lowest temp I've seen was about 12, which is still hoodie weather for me unless I'm out working in it all day
And really... who cares what you wear? If you have to try that hard to look good, you probably don't. |
A couple, the only one I am likely to wear is the blaze orange one that makes a great cover up during hunting season when it is cool, but not cold. The dark grey one is a zip up that might be OK for lounging around the house, but that is about it. Never worry that much about attire, and figure that people who focus too much on that are shallow.

I wear hoodies all the time, but I'm a sketchy bastard. I even wear them under jackets with the hood sticking up past the collar.
