The relevant Texas statutes appear to have been written pursuant to the Lawyer's Full Employment Act, but as best as I can determine this teacher was found guilty of at least two counts of felony Sexual Assualt in the first degree for the two underage males plus whatever pertained to the "position of authority" issue with regard to the seventeen year-old. Do the crime, do the time.
The fact that I think POA situations should be an employment rather than criminal issue is irrelevant. Collectively, the people of Texas obviously see it differently and I don't believe myself sufficiently wise that my judgement be substituted for theirs. |

For all of you guys saying "not guilty." What if it was your 15 year old son and the teacher became pregnant and decided to go after your son for child support for the next 20+ years?
Would you all still be saying "good job, not guilty" would you be claiming rape? |

It really isn't that hard to figure out.
Is it against the law. If yes then no boingo. If no then smash. There were things like this that went on back in the day. It was usually ugly people involved and nobody wanted to talk about it. 14 is too damn young period. If she pled guilty to these charges what else did she do that isn't in the open? My mother gave birth to me when she was 17. To have kids and a family at a young age was encouraged in those days and it was not unusual nor was it illegal for my Dad who was a returning Nam vet. Now in WY 18 is the law. Pops would have been in deep shit then and now. |
